Yes, the climate is changing. No, it is not solely, nor even primarily, caused by human influence. No, it will not have devastating effects. No, the government has no method to reverse this, stop acting like the government can solve all problems if you just throw enough money at it.

We actually do not know enough to confirm that humans create an effect strong enough to cause such drastic changes. The theories that the sun is reaching the end of a solar hyper-activity cycle or the process of the earth's poles switching are actually more plausible than human's affecting the ecosphere at this scale
>>
Anyone who denies dirty energy causes climate change is straight retarded. An hero.
>>
The science is simple.

Global temperature rises. The rise in temperature causes more vapour in the air.
Over the water, there are more storms that get supercharged, over land it causes fires since everything gets died out.

basic high school science. But American education is shit hence there is so much denial.

Its ok, keep believing that its a hoax. Its coming for you.

hurricanes aren't man-made but their strength is increased by man-made climate change. just one degree difference in water temperature makes category 3 hurricane into category 5
>>
>>744735401
The same gasses offed by volcanos caused a heat up of the entire planet.

So what could be happening that seems totally supported by science?
>>
>>744734991

I know liberals want it to be so simple, but it's not. Climate change happens slowly over long periods of time. The only people who will notice it are those who study climate data. We aren't going to wake up to find the oceans have risen 10 feet and are now boiling. You also can't point out that there are more storms this year than last year as some kind of evidence of whatever your point is. Weather year to year is subject to so many variables that it's not really predictable. What is predictable are overall climate trends over long spans of time.

tldr: you look like a fucking retard if you point to a storm as your "see, told ya so".

The ice at the North Pole is falling apart.

It's covered in ash from the burning of fossil fules. The micro fine particles settled there, on the ice.
The black color makes them hotter so they melt and fill the oceans higher.

Right now.
>>
>>744735811
>Good try. I wonder how much pollution especially in terms of greenhouse gasses have we put in the atmosphere just during the industrial revolution?

Drop in the bucket in the grand scheme of things. We are just a thin layer of slime infested an 8,000 mile wide rock in space. We aren't in control in any meaningful way here. We are just along for the ride. Any damage we do is ultimately insignificant and entirely temporary. The climate is changing with or without our input.

what makes you think the temperature changes are solely man made? The only evidence we have are the temperature reading for about a 2-3decades and the data we get from the weather observation stations at the poles are inconsistent at best (all the research that shows a degree or two per year increase has reconstructed and calculated the data based on fragmented data and some algorithms)

>>744736044
we have very accurate temperature readings since mid-19th century where you can clearly see the increase. we know that it's at least mostly, if not only, man-made because solar activity is decreasing since the 1960s but temperature continues to rise, following co2 increase which is definitely man-made, all the additional co2 has very little carbon-14 proving that it's from fossil fuels
>>
>>744733838
What people don't seem to get is that humans are insignificant as fuck and the lifespan of a human, let's say a century, means absolutely nothing on a global scale. We're seeing changes in the climate that are relatively big when put into scale on a human life, but when you look at the Earth as a whole it doesn't make a fucking difference. The climate has always fluctuated and sometimes it can make big or small dips over the course of thousands of years.

Average temps over America have been getting cooler since records started. Sure there are days/weeks/months even years with "hottest on record" blahblahblah but the trend, since records started, is cooler. Look at the raw data. not easy to find, but not that hard if you want it.

There are volcanoes under the ice. Volcanoes and earthquakes release gases into the atmosphere, so does melting ice.

Cosmic rays seed clouds in the atmosphere. A quiet Sun, which we have right now, means more cosmic rays.

Even if human pollution is warming the planet there is more to make it cooler. Like the coming ice age, which, if you look at the last 400,000 years seem unavoidable. Good to not pollute, I mean, you wouldn't poison your mom would you? Probably a bad analogy for 4chan.
Fact is, it can warm now, but it won't for long, like the medieval warm period. Or, it could cool now, like the little ice age, facts are, pollution is bad, global cooling is inevitable

http://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1088/1748-9326/11/4/048002

97% of peer reviewed papers from reputable publications agree that human activity is capable of affecting the Earth's climate.
>>
I have to say, as an engineer specialized in meteorology, this denial is completely nuts.

Yes climate has always shifted to an extent, but such fast changes in such a short time is something never seen before. And yes we have enough data to create models of past temperatures.

What is amazing is that one of the main voices of climate change denial is an agency that specializes in counter propaganda and notably worked on the tobacco controversy, fighting any legislation even though science has demonstrated its negative effects for more than 50 years.

And you untermensch believe it all instead of nasa reports.

Despicable.

The 97 percent claim is a deliberate misrepresentation designed to intimidate the public—and numerous scientists whose papers were classified by Cook protested:
“Cook survey included 10 of my 122 eligible papers. 5/10 were rated incorrectly. 4/5 were rated as endorse rather than neutral.”
—Dr. Richard Tol
“That is not an accurate representation of my paper . . .”
—Dr. Craig Idso
“Nope . . . it is not an accurate representation.”
—Dr. Nir Shaviv
“Cook et al. (2013) is based on a strawman argument . . .”
—Dr. Nicola Scafetta
Think about how many times you hear that 97 percent or some similar figure thrown around. It’s based on crude manipulation propagated by people whose ideological agenda it serves. It is a license to intimidate.
It’s time to revoke that license.

i did not argue that it doesnt affect climate. But the definition of the degree of the impact it has is whats in question.
A single solar flare can have a greater effect on earth's biosphere than a decade of human activity depending on many variables. Earth's orbital change around the sun shifting by a single degree has more impact than a decade of human activity. For now we know too little to ascertain that humans are the main cause of these changes.

Hilariously, your source for that narrative isn't a peer reviewed paper, it's not from within the confines of established scientific discourse at all. It's from Alex Epstein, who works in the oil industry author ofThe Moral Case for Fossil Fuel.

You're doing science wrong.

No, it means nothing. The fact that 97% of scientists disagree with a point doesn't impact that point in any way. The point is to stand or fall on its own merits, not the merits of people's views on that point.

let me put it this way. Most of the weather scientist on earth take the biosphere are a closed system. This way they ascertain that the climate change thats occuring is indeed a problem and the variables show that only human activity is whats causing most of these problems.
its all good and fine but they ignore all other factors that happen outside of the biosphere such as solar radiation, orbital anomalies, magnetic field changes and many more variables.
Quite a few studies also take these into account sure.... but we know little about what affects us from the outside as humans have only begun to research these effects a little more than a decade ago

co2 dissolved in water creates h2co3 which is slightly acidic. that's why it's put in drinks
>>
>>744741217
Did you learn nothing in basic chemistry?

CO2 + H2O -> H2CO3

H2CO3 is an acid. There is water vapor everywhere in the air, which means that CO2 in certain situations will be acidic. This doesn't happen everywhere on a large scale, but in small amounts everywhere. It's not a strong acid either, but it still contributes.

Even as a farmer, you'll be very aware of the capitalist strategies, putting a copyright on seeds. if a farmer doesn't grow Monsanto seeds, they build farm of their own close to his, with the pollen comes the Monsanto plant to the farmers crop and - bam - they sue him and close his farm.
