When i Was in highschool i started hanging out with a group of punk guys who would take me to shows and they we're really nice at first but started becoming more agressive and they start some sort of taskforce. They would go to parties dressed like a regular teenager and started beating up everybody who drank alcohol. They told me It was for their own protection and that the alcohol would hurt them more in the long run than the physical beatings. I was forced to join this taskforce but because i'm a tiny girl. Anesthesia isn't recreational drug you mong.
It is something you need during invasive surgery like that, so you can avoid going into shock and dying.
It's not like the surgeon is asking to you drink a beer, do a line of coke and smoking a joint before operating on you.
You can ask for them to not give you any painkillers after your surgery is done, but in order to have a decent survival rate during your surgery, you need the anesthetic.
