Earth is destined to be destroyed. There is almost zero chance of Earth surviving. But the end of the earth will only come once our sun is near the end of it's life in another 2-4 billion years. It will expand as it cools and there is a decent chance that the earth will be consumed in the corona. In the off chance that it is not consumed, all life will surely be burned/boiled to death. Then, the sun will slowly cool and die over the next 3 billion years and the earth will slowly circle a lifeless hunk of iron with nothing but starlight as illumination.
