From my cursory research it honestly looks legit even though it was some damage on the back where the pin is attached on the bottom is gone/broken off. Depending on the price, it's a good buy. I wouldn't pay over 40-50 USD for it honestly

65 dollars is a little bit much for a medal with a good amount of wear plus missing the clasp with no paper work honestly. If he had some paper work of who it was given to and where he was injured, maybe 65. Idk how much you want the medal but there is other guys online selling those in better condition for less. I buy and collect Union and Confederate war medals from the American Civil War and can easily get a fantastic medal in excellent shape for 65

I do believe, from what I've seen online, is that the backside is supposed to be concave/sunken in. The front has the proper wear and tear that a worn medal should have. I highly doubt that he sandblasted the medal to make it look worn
