Best place to be is san antonio they got a place called haven for hope but we always referred to it as cravin the dope.
Anyway they feed every meal daily have a place to sleep and you can also apply for their housing program and get up on your feet. I was a super junkie at one point in my life and now not so much im stable and that alone is a miracle.

I've spent some time in the bush, but I've also spent time sleeping rough in urban areas, enough to learn to survive. I find using my backpack for a pillow and sleeping in the grass in any city park is perfectly safe as long as I have a book open on my chest; I just look like a student catching a nap and the cops won't roust me. I also spent six months living in Stanley Park in Vancouver. There's a permanent population of about 200 people living in there, most of them completely invisible. In the mornings the rangers would go around and roust you at sunrise before the tourists came if they could see your tent, but as long as you were hidden they didn't care.

A lot of guys survived off the ducks and gooses in the park, which were all hand-fed by tourists and so tame you could just walk right up and break their necks. Me, I'd fish for my supper off the sea wall. Fresh fish every night, and even redrock crabs on rare occasions -- and a 10 minute walk from downtown Vancouver.

These days I survive by doing tarot readings on a little folding table on the street.

Homeless should be denied hospital care. This is just evolution to kill off the unproductive.
