Everyone who has ever recommended to me has been a stoner. It was like when Adventure Time was a thing. Both my housemates are stoners, all their friends are stoners, and they all love it.

I tried the first six episodes on a plane recently. Not bad, but nothing special. I wouldn't call it a bad show, but not worth the hype. I can see why stoners like it though.

I like it enough that I watch it weekly, but not enough to support Dan Harmon. He's a good, maybe even great writer, but he's such a cuck.
Evidence: If any of you like Game Grumps or Dan Avidan in any form, look at the second episode of their new JewTube Red show, Good Game.
The first 10 minutes are just cancer, basically throwing in cultural references and edginess in because it's cool. The main part of that ten minutes is one of the kids being an edgy asshole to his team for no goddamn reason other than that it needed to happen to move the story along, with no buildup or motivation.
(If you have Red, go watch the first couple minutes here. Or watch the whole thing. Dan fucking carries the show).

They try to contrast it, with the main "we need a contrast"/convenience guy saying that the solution to edginess it to make a list of banned words, but that's never touched upon beyond everyone looking at him basically saying "lol whatever retard."

They use it to do some character stuff, but it's pretty contrived.

TL;DR

I think Dan Harmon/ the left bias in the studio is toning R&M down and making it worse, as evidenced by Good Game and Rick and Morty.

Well I think you missed the point on many seas 3 epidsodes. Theyre telling the story of an abusive family relationship. The grotesque overexaggeraton of the lengths that the individuals go (fighting sewer rats in a mecha made from their own organs, killing your father in law with the help of an alien conspiracy) serve to bring across the point of how little people are ready to contribute to fixing their situation and rather suffer unspeakable horrors than try to rebuild trust in each other, possibly because they consciously chose to act like dicks and dont care only about themselves even in the first place.

That is such a bullshit argument. Any time anyone calls out on shitty media or art, everyone pulls the "you're just jealous" card. It is an okay show, maybe 4/10 on a good episode. But the fan-base is utter cancer as OP mentioned.

To give anyone an idea how "good" this show is.. the worst episode of Futurama is better than the best episode of Rick and Morty.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick & Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick's existential catchphrase "Wubba Lubba Dub Dub," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. It's actually absurdism inspired by Albert Camus, not nihilism. But a philosophy pleb like you wouldn't understand the difference. The third season's 1st episode with the Sezhuan sauce pretty much confirmed that.

The thing I hate about this show is that the fucking worse things in this show, the dumb fucking catchphrase jokes and the Family Guy tier references, are the only thing I thing I see people discuss and probably enjoy the most and I swear this has made them get ex-Buzzfeed writers for the show now.
