I'm not sure I have ever seen a more clear example of a case to take to court. The cop was violating federal Patient Health Information laws and attempting to coerce through force, illegal activity by the staff of the hospital.

The hospital, the nurse and everyone involved would have a "gimmie" of a win in court. It would take years to filter through the courts, but she would win flat out on multiple counts. It's a multimillion dollar lawsuit easy now that it's popular video and the nurse's privacy has been compromised.

She should sue the police department, the detective (payne), his supervisor, and the assistant cop that was with payne.

So, it follows that there are going to be cops who are good, honest people, when honestly are the majority, just like the general public. But then there are also going to be cops who are rude, and have little to no emotional control.
Anecdotally, I went through police recruitment, and dropped out after having two interviews with recruiters (keep in mind I was dealing with the RCMP). The interviewer made it very, very clear they are looking for people to follow orders and impose the letter of the law, not intuitive problem solvers. I think the last decade or so police forces have really focused on recruiting order following drones, why? because if the officer misspells a word, gets an address wrong, says "Hi" instead of "hello" the perp goes free, end of story. You cant pressure a system to be exact to the 100th decimal point, make them responsible for everything in your life, then be surprised when it becomes dominated by the adult equivalent of the "the teachers pet" or "tattle tale" from elementary school.

Regardless, there are 100's of thousands police interactions with people every day, statistically a completely fair few dozen every day are going to be like this. In reality, you're far more likely to be abused by a random stranger than a cop.

Cops are not a group, not a race, not anything, it's just profession. If you want to target and tear apart a profession, go for painters, those fucks are shite.

In a case like this, I would go after the police department in civil court (they have more money). and officer dipshit in criminal court for felony aggravated kidnapping which in Utah, I believe is a minimum of 15 years.
