Freak Storms happen. A hurricane like this is rare in Texas, but it does happen. The problem people get wrong about global warming is that they are taking rare events and attributing them to short term global warming. This isn't the case. The real nasty effects of global warming will happen in decades, not years. The reality is that those effects will be mitigated and as the majority of carbon pollution will be halted in a dozen years and will likely be 1% of the current level in 20 years.

California is not known for Hurricanes or Tropical Storms. There have only been two on record. The 1939 Tropical storm which hit Long Beach and set the all time record for rainfall within a 24 hour period in the state. Keep in mind, California has 5-6 times as many people now than it did back then. Los Angeles only had about a million and a half people. Such an event today would cause massive havoc. But this storm was 78 years ago.

As a kid I remember old people talking about it.

Then there was the 1858 San Diego Hurricane. Which was probably far larger and occurred 80 years before the one I mentioned above hit Long Beach.


So we get them as well. And when one hits here in two years everyone will be like "Blah blah global warming!!!" not realizing that these seem to happen once a century and its been close to a century since the last one.

climate changed because of us you retard. stop stating the obvious. the climate has changed and it's currently the hottest year in the history of human kind. the rainforest is the lungs of the earth. they turn all the carbon dioxide into oxygen again. it doesn't matter if we gas our air with small amounts of it until we remove all the plants responsible for removing it again. if you look up how much of the rainforest we have removed over the years, you will see that humans are obviously fucking up the climate. it's like smoking. we put in large amounts of other things than oxygen while destroying our lungs at the same time. after a while, or body dies. same with the planet. we removed the one thing responsible for fixing our carbon dioxide problem while pumping it in. it's not the earth that is at risk. it's the small animals like bees and stuff. bees are responsible for other animals that we are dependent on as well. the planet will kill of its threat and move on as normal.
