They have some good episodes. But Season 1 has been the best by far.

I'm going to go ahead and say that I don't think this season was intended to be a funny season. I think the writing is well done and a lot of what's being said seems to be leading up to the death of one of the characters if not rick by the end of season 3. It Almost seems to be leading up to the end of the series. The head writers said last year that they really don't want to do the show anymore so my guess is that it's over after this. It seems that each character is getting the closure they need with their situations and it would not be a surprise to me if Rick gets killed in the finale or just leaves. But I guess we'll see. Season 3 did promise to be much darker, so I guess we'll see.

The writers for Season 3 are re-using the same joke over and over. The joke is to articulate the details of their family dysfunction with clarity and self-awareness ... and then to carry on as if they never expressed the insight.

It was funny when Homer Simpson used to do this (before The Simpsons started to suck) because it was an occasional gag, but this one gag is the foundation of season 3 and it's intensely boring.

It took the Simpsons 8 seasons before they lost their soul. Rick and Morty did it in 2.

You're asking me to find a needle in a haystack with this question but there was an interview about a year and a half ago when everyone was speculating that season 3 was going to start in December due to the Mr. Poopybutthole ending of season 2 where he says "guess we'll have to wait a year and a half to find out... or longer." Justin Roiland mentioned something about being tired of it and wanting to move on. I have a feeling it's due to the fan theory about the Jerry Daycare episode that resulted in an email from one of the writers to Justin Roiland or the other way around saying that we figured it out and that they'd have to rewrite.

You'd have to do some searching and I'm sure it'd be a pain in the ass to find due to season 3 being out now, but I can assure you it was said.

The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. I haven't seen the newest one yet but overall I'm enjoying this season a lot less than the first two.

I don't think its because of the introduction of female writers or shit like that, I'm not really sure what it is. But its much less funny, and much less interesting in my opinion. None of the stories thusfar are interesting and the plot doesn't appear to be going anywhere.

Every character, except Jerry, has been nothing but angsty and I'm getting really bored with the show now. I'm not laughing or intrigued by the sci-phi rigmarole anymore.

I get the impression that they only reason they made a third season was because of the shows unprecedented success and hype the last couple of years. Feels like a hastily shit out project and I'm no longer excited for the next episodes. Just feels like something to sit through at this stage.
