You can have one group that is conservative if the others are liberal, because while the conservative group will fight to conserve their ideology, that ideology can at least be considered as one of many valid views by those with liberal views, and compromise can be made. But when you have two conservative groups, there is only the option of war ahead of them.

In American history, the north was once largely liberal, then swung conservative when the conservative south became a threat to the union, and erupted in civil war The same dynamic can be seen in every war. Where liberalism fails, war erupts.

The US is about to discover the original and still more accurate nature of liberalism and conservatism, and realize it has nothing to do with the specific details of the prepackaged left/right ideologies the political parties have been selling you.
