Black Democrat here and I want to give you some tib bits of actual information.

First off, you can't compare someone like Lee to George Washington the man who founded this country. George Washington and what he's done as well as the bad he did is basically the Original Sin of our country. Also Robert E Lee decided that he didn't want to fight his friends and families so he decided to go with the South instead of the North.

I personally believe that these statues dedicated to the Confederacy shouldn't be taken down and destroyed. Its history, its the bad side of our history and it needs to be shown, shown in a museum dedicated to both sides of what happened during the Civil War. The South lost, I don't know why they have statues out in the open but I will not tolerate them being destroyed for fucking Tumblrinas. They should be moved to a musem as big or bigger then the MET in New York, showing everything that its dedicated to.

Lastly, people on BOTH sides have NOT talked about that particular statue of Lee. The problem isn't Lee but what that PARTICULAR statue represents. During the extremely late 1800's and into the early 1900's I BELIEVE the President William H. Taft (I could be wrong as to what President did this) dedicated that particular statue of Lee to, at the time, the remaining and prominent KKK/White Supremacist Extremist of that time that he recognized their efforts to wipe out and kill minorities.
