The Alt-Right rose largely as a consequence of an era which combined "an increasingly popular sentiment that whites should be discriminated against (or outright removed) to solve past injustice" and the availability of race realist literature online. As academia and the left as a whole continued to insist that white politics should take a back seat to minority politics, they naturally alienated the concerns of young whites, whites who may have even been left-leaning, Obama supporters or civic nationalists at one point...

As for my personal inclinations, I must admit that I see eye-to-eye with much of the Alt-Right in terms of their criticisms of modern society such as immigration, crime rate, etc. Where I get off is generally policy as my principles are firmly rooted with freedom and libertarianism. But unlike most mainstream, self-professed libertarians and establishment Republicans, I understand that immigration policies intended to alter the demographics of a society will also lead to the abandonment of those values, especially if such a society is a non-discriminating democracy. You can't import people who have voted socialism for an entire century and suddenly expect them to respect the free market and a free society... But this is where I get off the Alt-Right train. They prioritize preserving the traditional demographics of America, but in doing so, I fear they will abandon the goal of a free society in doing so and will ultimately establish a large government that will drag itself closer and closer to socialism and our eventual enslavement to the state.

If anything, to better understand the Alt-Right, you must realize that its not a monolith. There are competing ideological factions within it that are alien to one another in terms of principles.

1) Many of those blue states used to be historically red states and those blue cities were built by free markets and republican policies. Apparently you've only been paying attention to politics since the past election cycle, got your history from late-night comedians and now believe you're an expert on economic systems.

2) Many of the blue states are blue states primarily because of a handful of very large blue cities. Blue cities are constantly trying to increase the scope of their welfare programs and re-distributive policies. In order to keep themselves afloat, they petition not on their county, but their states and even the federal government to provide them with tax payer money.

3) Red states have lower rates of welfare. They're republican after all. Blue states are generous with the handouts, but that's not suggesting that red states won't take federal subsidies when offered (ie. AR and OH).

Furthermore, the cost of living is substantially lower in red states because of lower taxes. Most people within the city cannot afford a single car and must rely on public transportation while the "poor" red state, rural peoples, often own their own homes and have multiple vehicles... because you know, they're poor n shit.
