2. Buy a used .22 at a dealer and discuss trading it in later for a .45 if that is the caliber you want.

Socially liberal gun owner here. Get a .45 lcp Ruger. It's a good starter gun. Make sure you go to a range and learn how to use it. Would be a great idea to take some gun safety courses. LCP stands for light carry pistol. It's a small light handgun. One of its more popular uses is a back up firearm for police.

By the way I also think sensible restrictions are a good idea. I own somewhere the neighborhood of 30 firearms. Pretty much all hunting rifles and shotguns from the 1970s.

I'm assuming you are asking for what kind of gun will be best for concealed carry. .45s are nice but you really don't need that much stopping power and most if not all .45s are on the larger end of sidearms and difficult to concealed carry unless you go for a revolver. Also most .45s have ~8 rounds per mag which isn't much compared to other concealed carries. I carry either a glock .40 I think its a glock27 and it holds 14 rounds if I remember correctly, the other gun I carry is my barreta 380 auto. I like the 380 because its small as fuck to the point that it can easily fit in my back pocket and still holds ~15 rounds. Haven't had to carry in a while but I live in the middle of fucking nowhere and don't have to deal with most of the bullshit that has been going on in the rest of the country.

TLDR: Smaller calibers are better because you get more ammo per mag and don't need the stopping power of a .45.

That may have been true for previous generations of liberals but all the people I talked to from my generation, born in 1990s, have been for extreme gun control or just confiscation and complete ban on guns, most of these people I met at college the people from where I grew up are the exact opposite to the point where in those groups I am the voice for gun control and I don't think we need many more if any more gun control laws just better enforcement of the ones we have.

While riding my bike use an extra heavy chain to lock it up wit that doubles as a flail with a nice big master lock on it while riding when I wear it around my chest.
