Hello /b/ros, Any spacefreaks here who know how to build a rocket?

The stories and information posted here are artistic works of fiction and falsehood.
Only a fool would take anything posted here as fact.

Hello /b/ros,

Any spacefreaks here who know how to build a rocket?
Idc if i die in space i just want to shoot myself up there one time (drugs didn't work)
Any bluepapers or ideas?

*blueprints
>>
Have over a few million dollars?
>>
>>741396205
Well no but easy acces to a scrapyard
Knowledge of IT and electronics
And im good at maths and physics
>>
I feel like this might well be the beginning of an evil overlord
>>
I'd like to kill myself by going to space too, or droping into a volcano
>>
>>741396676
No, earth is already dying why should I make it go faster
I just want to see space first hand and maybe there will be books about me later
>>
You need a lot of exotic materials and r&d to even get off the ground. No way you're doing this with a bag of fertilizer and an appreciation for engineering
>>
>>741397029
Ordinarily I would agree, but he didn't specify that he wanted to reach space while still alive.
>>
>>741396944
Here we have a realistic nihilist
>>
>>741397008
You could have a secret lair under the scrapyard with a lot of hot girls
>>
Yeah nigga you're fucking crazy if you think a scrapyard and you, a single person can make a rocket. You won't even be able to make a fully functional car engine in a scrapyard.
>>
I'll get you there for $20,000 a pound. You got the cash we can go in 6 months.
>>
>>741397029
I just need to catapult me like 300km upwards
>>
>>741397382
Well shit i may rob a bank for that

(Dear fbi i was just kidding)
>>
>>741395935
if you are serious about this with enough time you could get yourself high up into the atmosphere (20 km) if everything goes right
>>
>>741398131
Yeah i thought about hooking my selfmade rocket onto a plane to get at least a bit of height and start from there to get even higher
>>
>>741398131
there's no way you could build a working engine with a gimble so your best bet would be loads of fins at the bottom of your rocket to keep it flying vertically
>>
>>741395935
Why don't you ask Elon Musk if you can sit within the payload fairing of his Falcon Heavy when he send it on his maiden voyage in November?
>>
>>741398314
that would be stupidly difficult to do as planes fly horizontally and not vertically and getting that plane in the first place would be difficult enough
>>
Do a gofundme and be honest about it
Say you want to potentially an hero by high fiving the ISS
People are dumb enough to pay for that shit
>>
>>741398314
Also theres no way you could manage and maintain a liquid fuel combustion so your only and best bet is solid fuel , the only downside to solid fuel is that you cannot extinguish it once you ignite it and that you cant control the thrust on a solid rocket engine
>>
>>741395935
How far do you want to go?
>>
>>741398712
For the beginning 20+ km should be good to attract the attention of NASA
Maybe they sponsor me if i survive
>>
>>741398706
to create solid fuel to you can use potassium nitrate , kitty litter , and powdered sugar. the kitty litter is there to slow down the burning as you dont want +20g on your homemade rocket
>>
>>741398879
20km+ is not survivable
* because thin air
* because impact when you come down
>>
>>741398706
I don't care if i die
I will die trying or i will survive and be famous as “the guy who was insane enough to fly to space alone“
>>
>>741398879
Felix Baumgartner made it up to 39 km with a Helium balloon.
If you are trying to get the attention of NASA and your major hurdle is funding, this would probably be the best course of action.
I would invest in a large oxygen tank and a parachute or 2 in case shit hits the fan.
>>
>>741399120
youd prefer to manage to get into "space" first rather than blow up on your launch pad
>>
>>741399074
great, tell the retard how to blow up his entire neighborhood, good job anon
>>
>>741399206
yeah hes right OP , if you want to get near space and get nasa's attention a massive helium balloon and some air tight cabin is your best bet
>>
>>741399260
Im expecting OP to be smart enough to not do it in his backyard
>>
>>741399472
Where do you think you are?
>>
>>741395935
Nobody wants to go to space.

Not yet.

It's disgusting up there. You hear about them and the messes they have to deal with, and then you hear stuff like in space when they brush their teeth they don't spit the shit out, they swallow it and you want to heave just thinking of it.

Then you think about all these people in a enclosed space and it's been up there for a while you KNOW it smells funky up there.

Space sounds really gross. I'll go up when they have enough gravity that you can brush your teeth normally drink water that hasn't come directly from your coworkers bladder.

Okay guys OP here
I am not that dumb to not do tests before
it will take a while to do this since i am alone and i am no rocket physician
I will start with small models and work my way 1:1

>>

>>

Would you rather shoot yourself or fly into space and die slowly because no oxygen and you know you've made it
>>
>>741395935
try this but bigger
>>
>>741400589
I would neither, because I love life.

yeah it wouldnt work, the acceleration would rip OP apart at launch if not the entire rocket

go fucking nuts, OP.
>>

just build in a springy seat so it absorbs the acceleration
>>
>>741400842
again , the acceleration would kill op at launch and he would not get far due to drag low down at the bottom of the atmosphere , there's a reason why rockets go so slowly when they are low near the surface ,the atmosphere is dense
>>
>>741400807
Y'all can screenshot this shit I will try this

I have been thinking about this since I am 17 years old
It was just a spark of an idea which grew into a raw plan and now i will try to make that dream a reality

>>
Let me break it down in two basic variants.
Helium baloon - Gets you to 30km of alt.
- It is as far as it would go with this amount of weight .
-Can't be steered.
Rocket fuel - Gets you as far as LEOrbit
-Much shit can go wrong
-You could be a living firework
If anyone has an idea of flying on helium and then boosting out via solid fuel im sorry to burst your baloon but the trust generated by a rocket engine at a 30km altitude will not be enough to break you into orbit.

Building something like that would be pretty hard as is .
Helium baloons tend to lift somewhere in the lines of a gram per liter.
Rockets mass needs to be 90% fuel , so best case scenario you would need a 600kg rocket with you in it . That is if you go out of your basement and get to 60kg from your starting 150. So simple math here is
600000 liters of helium ,a baloon with 10X10X10 dimensions (accounting for gas expansion) 500kilos of solid good quality rocket fuel (best case scenario would be staged).
And this is all without accounting to the weight of the capsule(rocket).

Price of hydrogen+oxygen is about $4 per kg.
Price of liquid helium for 100kg(roughly 600k liters in gaseous state) - $5k
So $7000 just for fuel.
Account for cost of building and telemetry and see it would be far much easier to an hero on video and get someone to post it here when you off yourself.
>>
>>741403105
Well thank you for the quick break down i was going to do that rn
>>
>>741403105
As i said earlier OP , has no chance of building a liquid engine so solid fuel or a helium balloon is the only way to go for him
>>
>>741403105
Continuing from that there is a fun and easy way to cheat. Find an astronaut scheduled to go to ISS , kill him before he gets in his suit. Put that shit on and get to the fucking rocket.. You will sure get NASA's attention that way.
>>
>>741403456
If i have done a solid fuel engine I am going to post on /b/ again

The helium balloon is a good idea to get attention from NASA so i may get funded
You will hear of me in the news

sorry to burst your bubble but i highly doubt youd get funding from nasa for flying in a helium balloon , if anything that could get you in deep shit and locked up

I would tell the feds what i am trying to do many days before so i have the legal rights to fly off into space and if not i wont take parachutes with me

But this nigger wants to build a rocket with sheet metal and little know how and blow himself up. He absolutely cannot do it by himself.

>>
>>741395935
>>741396379

the main problem assuming you manage to build a rocket that will actually function and travel a set trajectory is being able to acquire the fuel. its not something that normally gets sold to random weirdos

also do you intend to make it to space alive? or do you just want your body to be there?
>>
>>741406728
I would prefer to get up there alive but if i die in the process shit happens
>>
Realistically you'll need a huge rocket just to get into orbit and you need very precise calculations and you'll need to not get fucked by space debris if you somehow get up there. It's not as simple as going up really fast
>>
>>741406589

I hope he's got dedication because hes gonna need to make a ton
>>
>>741406585
That's funny but you know what i mean, i applaud his enthusiasm for having such a strong dream and maybe he'll come to his sense and realize the way he wants it is just not possible. If you're still here OP I believe in you.
Think about pulsejet propulsion. Easy to build, simple, and relatively efficient. Build a spaceplane, lightweight, with high lift wings, float it up as high as you can with helium, light up that pulsejet to get you the rest of the way. Problems include, launching from a standing start at high altitude, predicting lift/drag characteristics at the edge of the atmosphere, building a pressurized cabin, and making the thing lightweight enough to be able to float it high into the atmosphere. You could use propane as the fuel and when you get high up, Nitrous Oxide could be your oxidizer, as the oxygen may be too thin.
Also this fucking Captcha lmao

Side note: I'm not an aerospace engineer but I feel like air density would have a linear effect on drag and lift. like, if the air pressure is .3 bar, you'd need 66% increase in lift, and would also experience a 66% decrease in drag. Your precious fuel would be better utilized where there's no air to slow you down.

Build small pod with all proper equipment.Make as LIGhT as possible. Attach powerful fireworks with a timer set detaching system. Attach massive helium *balloons*. Once at maximum height, fire fireworks. Detach. Fire single thruster engine. Should be in space by then if my mathautismatics are correct. I play a lot of KSP I know what I'm talking about OP
>>
>>741395935
If you want to survive getting into space, but dont care if you get into an orbit, I guess you could just do a one stage rocket with an engine (possibly multiple) and a fuel tank, with some sort of capsule on the top of it to hold you. There's a few problems with doing what you want to do though
1) Fuel. How are you going to obtain fuel. It's not like you can just order some, and you can't make it yourself.
2) The engines. You better be damn good at engines if you're going to build one.
3) Controls. Even if you can build some sort of control panel you'll probably not have a stable enough craft to not just fly into the ground again.
>>
>>741415772
And some fuels work better in vacuums then they do in air anyway so you're right, given that OP chooses a fuel that behaves that way.
>>
>use as many massive helium balloons as possible
>attach homemade "jetpack"
>float up in unroofed basket
>at maximum altitude, jump from basket as to not ignite helium above you
>blast off
>pray to kek

Space plane sounds cool and seems easier than a rocket. Do this. It's not like you're expecting to return anyways

the only rocket engine you could build is a valveless pulse jet as they can be built with just stainless steel tubing and a propane tank. they also put out pure shit thrust thats probably not worth their weight.

The nazis really helped the world progress in terms of medicine and technology, but no, I'm pretty sure China did it first.

We'd be in one hell of a futuristic world if Hitler remained in power.

You could use a weather balloon. It won't get you to space but you will be extremely high up.

I hate to be a bummer here but there's no way you're going to by able to afford/mix the components necessary for a chemical propellent to get you to space. Besides being extremely well versed in physics, chemistry, orbital mechanics, telemetry and biology. (basically a rocket scientist). It's highly unlikely you would be able to recreate rocket fuel without a multi million dollar laboratory.

You could just float up there instead though.
>>
>>741416506
Also OP, relating to what this guy, and I said, keep in mind there's a point where wings just won't work anymore in thin atmosphere. If you do actually break out of the atmosphere. You will literally have no way to control your craft. You'd either have to rig an RCS system, or call that a successful mission and accept that re-entry will destroy your craft and you with it.

Hot air balloon
>>
You could do a bipropellant rocket using hydrazine hydrate and hydrogen peroxide.
Just nigger rig a steel tank to have a bunch of fuel injectors all along the sides, ignite it with a spark gap, gimbal the engine and hope for the best lmao

>>
>>741406247
Could he pressurise the cabin?
>>
>>741419239
Well if he designed a proper rocket and used normal rocket monopropellants/bipropellants the cabin would need to probably be impermeable to chemicals and have a filtered fresh air supply, which you could then pressurize the cabin with. I believe they usually use asbestos as a chemical barrier for hydrazine.
>>
>>741419064
That's insanely fast tho
But I'm like 50% sure some dude launched himself to space before
>>
>>741419768
That's only Mach 326
Do you want to change your answer?
>>
>>741395935
Knowing how, and being able to do it are two different things, anon. Having the resources are another matter entirely.

I both know, and am able, and do, however, the resources... that's where it ends.
>>
For the fuel, you need to mix bleach and ammonia.
>>
>>741420500
technically that's true, that's how you manufacturer hydrazine (although greatly simplified)

>Nobody wants to go to space.
I do. I would rather live five minutes in space and die right then and there, than have to live 50 more years on the surface.

Don't be sad anon. Life gets better.
>>
>>741421132
No, it really doesn't. If you're lucky, you have until about your late thirties before the only people who are decent to you start dying off. After that, your heath starts to go, your body starts falling apart, you'll find yourself stuck in a job you never wanted, and no one else will hire you. You'll go back to school but no one will understand why, because you're old and should be stable on the road to retirement, not changing lanes and penniless and worried about losing your hair and your teeth. After that, it's just watching everyone you know die of heart failure and cancer one at a time, until you join them, in excruciating pain for years on end, racking up millions in medical bills, getting the house you worked for your entire life repossessed in a vain attempt to pay for it, with no one coming to visit you as you rot away in a beige room smelling of piss and vinegar. That's what you have to look forward to on earth. 50 years of that.
>>
>>741421601
You should go to school to expand on your career. You don't need to switch entirely.
I'm 28, have my BSc from years ago, and I went back to school for another bachelors degree but it's still related to my main job.
>>
>>741421601
but wait, that's not the American dream I was sold!
