I'll guess you are analytical and more math-minded? That's usually the case for thise with high IQ's that don't excell in the social domain. My highest scores are in social test domains, and I'm not gifted at math.
Still, I always did well in math because it is a skill, and being smart in general helps in all acquisition and development.
Social interaction is a skill, just like math, and takes work and practice for those not naturally gifted there. I hate math, but with a little work I got good at it. You hate small talk and inane conversation, but have to get over your disdain to get better at it. Despite high social aptitude I'm pretty anti-social. I have enough close friends that I'm not interested in making more, so any interaction with non-friends is usually forced. That doesn't mean I'm not good at it, as I'm able to get a read on people quickly and know how to talk to them/What they want to hear. It's just a skill set, and one you can master. It sounds like you're aloof largely BECAUSE of your IQ, and inherent sense of intellectual superiority. This is heightened in those who are insecure, as they tend to project more of their insecurities on others, further distancing themselves emotionally. Eh, I'll stop with my armchair psychology...
TLDR: social skills are SKILLS, not just talents. Skills cam be acquired and honed by anyone. You have to want to integrate yourself socially.

I spent my 1st through 5th grade years being taken out of school one day a week to be placed in a class of peers where we learned new problem solving skills. I was more serable with no friends. Super alienated. By the end of highschool I had given up on the special classes and picked up guitar. I also started acting dumber than I am. I'm 35 now. I smoke weed and play music. I'm a sound tech at a venue and I have more friends than almost anyone I know. Protip anon: no one wants to hear how much smarter you are than them. Lower your ego, and learn an instrument. Take this with a grain of salt, as I'm only a 131 on the SB5 (still high enough for mensa, though),

Binge watch The Office. Binge watch Parks and Recreation. Binge watch any other realistic sitcoms you can get your hands on. Study the interactions on the show(s). Find what's healthy and what's not. What makes good small talk and what doesn't. It sounds absolutely absurd but it works wonders on social skills. Just remember to think of it like learning a language you don't know, not like watching a TV show.

Humble yourself down a bit. Although you're clearly exceptionally bright, people care about what applies to them, and often, how they feel about someone isn't some rational, well-thought out process. They hear worss like "extemporize" and "destitution", and even the slow ones start picking up the intellectual difference between themselves and yourself. This difference makes most people feel inadequate, inferior, and self-conscious, and unlike sports or video games, there's nothing they can do to dramatically increase their IQ. For them, talking to you is like being an amputee in a footrace against an olympic runner, or like DP'ing a 10/10 but they have a 3 inch penis and you have a 10 inch penis. Nothing they can do to change that, and that scares them, so they stay away.

Try acting a little slower. Use small words that average joe can understand. This was hard for me at first, my way of getting better was to imagine I was talking to a foreigner with limited English. Study up on how those 100-IQ'ers interact via those sitcoms. Most importantly of all remember that there IS a time and place for intelligence in 2017 - it's easy to feel demotivated when hearing all this, but this all applies to your social life only.

As for work, find a job that pays you to do what you love. Easier said than done, of course. I had plenty of failed minimum wage jobs in my past before I moved into CS.

You're looking at it backwards...the point isn't to lower yourself to their level, it's to find people who are on yours. Smart people gravitate towards each other, and it's not hard to find them if you look in the right places.
Also, it's pretty obvious you're on the young side. I'm confident you're not 30 yet. Young people often confuse being intelligent with being interesting. There is only a slight positive correlation between the two. I have friends who aren't nearly as smart as me: one is an AP beaureau chief, one is a screenwriter, one a novelist, a couple are teachers, and they all offer rewarding friendships with comeradery and stimulating conversation. I don't have to "lower myself to their level." They like being challenged intellectually, and come to me to discuss things.
Last thing: if you're not in a big city, you need to be. Larger pool of people with more activities to take part in to find them.

I'm also bad at chit-chat, and small talk. I don't get how people can talk about things that have no content what so ever. While I naturally have really bad social skills, I learned how to read people by applying the scientific method. I messed up some social situations in the past (experiments, applying stuff from movies that is not meant to actually work). But right now I have no problems what so ever with socializing, even with groups where I have not even the slightest bit of compatibility I get along pretty well, and people like me.

I just act a bit, or show some concern, for some situations I have set up "protocols" that are always to be followed when something happens, so that I don't mess up. Because a spontaneous reaction from me is often different from what people expect, it is better to have things planned out in advance. People get that I'm not interested sometimes, but they are alright with it, because I also accept them for who they are. I have gotten pretty decent at cold reading as well, I can often predict what people are thinking and why and more importantly what people think about me and what they expect from me. I normally use a stochastic model for predicting behavior, so I'm not really caught of guard when something happens, because things which I had given low probability are still considered possible. I'm not autistic, but I test pretty high on tests for autism and sociopathy/psychopathy but I have never gotten a diagnosis, even after my primary school teacher sent me to a psychologist for testing. They only confirmed that I had very high IQ.

Just put some effort in, anon, if you are as smart as you claim to be, then you should realize, that people are no different from any other deterministic system, and every system can be analyzed and predicted.

I was thinking about how movies have become extremely meta predictable as of late, I made the observation that there is a extremely strong statistical correlation with bad endings and high scores from critics and audiences, indicating an increasing dissatisfaction with the currently still dominant heroes journey and "the good guys win". I think that they subconsciously (and some even consciously) became aware aware of the underlying structure and grew dissatisfied with it.

As the heroes journey resonates with people, because it reflects some parts of the human psyche, maybe the underlying psyche changed based on how our society currently reaches post scarcity.

This creates the demand for a new alternative meta story, that reflects the current public subconscious.
