Background: One of my best buds in highschool was schizophrenia free until around age 17, then it hit him hard all at once. He was smoking lots of weed & doing unorthodox meditations e.g. trying to "break through the wall at the top of his mind." I figure one of these things, or both + generics had a big impact on the development of his illness.

You know, it's hard to tell if the drugs cause the schizo, or if the schizos are just drawn to drugs. I happen to believe that the drugs don't cause it (most of the time)

I've read drugs, specifically weed, accelerate or magnify the onset, but doesn't cause it outright. There definitely a genetic component (molecular geneticist reporting in), but it's very complicated. Recent studies have shown there's a constellation of genes that come into play, which is why there so much variation in schizophrenia - e.g. auditory hallucinations, visual, paranoia, etc. Fascinating stuff, but there are environmental factors & a whole bunch of other stuff that we have no idea about yet.

Good point that maybe schizos are drawn to drugs in the first place. I'd buy that for a dollar.

Long distance relationships?
They can work, and they help for what you might call company. more often than not, they fail though.
I myself think they can be enjoyable, espcially if the two people "click". But, I don't think they can last long as purely ldr.

hey schizo ive had very poor experiences with other schizos in the past, i used to live with one and theyd do wierd shit constantly like scream profanities at 5 a.m, breaking holes in their walls, and getting blood everwhere. a few times they threatened me and got violent with others. how common are these traits?
