I lived in Utah for 14 years before I moved away. They are nice people, and are the absolute embodiment of the typical white person stereotype. At least the hardcore mormons. Many of them are just ordinary people. The fact that alcohol content for beer is specifically reduced to 3.5% is a funny thing to note. 23 years old, just passed two years since I moved out of a Mormon home with Mormon up-bringing.

I had a phase where I researched all these conspiracies and shit about Mormon brainwashing and secrets, I've been through Mormon temples as a baptised member.

They are extremely rooted in there own reality, but not sinister. Even if there is some corruption up top at least locally for each church everyone is pretty genuine and there isn't any unspoken agendas. When I was a growing up my dad was a bishop for a long time then a stake president (regional person in charge of 20+ bishops) and I saw almost all the shit he had to deal with and it was very boring , organizing meetings and helping poor people.

I will say though that I'm not from Utah, and I'm sure that having like 50% of one state having such a intense religion it definitely has a greenhouse effect in terms of sheltering people from the rest of the world, and brewing strange practices

I listened to a radio program about a Mormon man with five wives and a lot of kids. To get into the best tier of heaven, you have to do lots of good deeds and work your way up the church. The lowest tier of heaven is where murderers, non-believers, and those who were never informed will end up. The middle tier is where Mormons that didn't do enough will end up.

It may be coincidental or otherwise, but when I was seeing what the church was about the lessons were very catered to my questions (as I was the only non-religious person on the block) and they avoided mentioning any form of punishment.
