There's a bunch of non-combat skills you have to grind, like learning a language to unlock vendors or to use gliders, in HoT, which was fine, but the rate you aquired points to unlock them sucked. Especially if you are fresh to HoT and don't have a lot of good gear saved up.

Hi OP, Black Desert Online is probably what you're looking for. The catch-up mechanics present in the game make it easy for new players to come in and catch up to high-tier players and the PVP is pretty fun. If you're an autistic fuck and play solo, you might not be able to have as much fun as you could since joining a guild not only gives you good buffs but exposes you to the PVP of the game which is really the draw of the game.

Visually, the game looks good and the map is a pretty good size. Almost all classes are viable and there really is no "best class" as some excel in PVP and some excel in PVE.

There is no level cap and the gear has no level requirement, though the soft cap is level 60. Level 1-50 is possible in about 30min with previous gear. A new player would probably be able to level from 1-50 in about 10ish hours. 50-56 takes a little longer but you get something what is called an "awakening weapon" at 56, which is your classes second weapon with high damage multipliers. Anything after that is just whatever.

There are no "raids", just world bosses that spawn on each server and everyone is allowed to come. Those bosses drop the BiS items.

If you're limited on time, a lot of the games lifeskills (mining, fishing, chopping wood, etc) are AFK or semi-AFK and is usually the main way to make money besides farming for hours on end and is how most players bring in money.

The lifeskills are also pretty fun, though I'm not too big into them. You can hunt, breed horses and race them (which are also the mounts; There is no teleportation and you must travel the map manually so horses are pretty important), have ship battles, become a cook and some other shit that'll make sense when you start playing.

I'm having a blast playing the game, and I think you'd enjoy it too. If you need a guest pass to try it before buying it let me know and I can drop one in here. Same goes for anyone else in the thread, if you want a guest pass let me know! I think you'll like it.

The game is buy to play. You can get cash shop items with in game currency but they're pretty hard to snipe off the MP. If you like the game, most likely the only thing you'd really buy is the Value Pack which you'll understand what it is when you play the game. Also, if you're a new player they give you two 7 day value packs.

And no, the armor is universal although you can make different builds (Evasion, Accuracy, High attack / High Defense) and some classes have more CC than others. It makes it easy to reroll classes though; once you have a set of armor you can just move it to a new class you want to level or just switch to a whole new class.

You buy the game and then you don't have to spend any more money. You can just play the game that way. There is really no pay to win aspects in the game, just a bunch of pay for convienence stuff. That's not a joke, by the say. I've played almost every SEA mmorpg and BDO is the one of the only ones with no real P2W aspects. Probably just the ghillie suit, which hides your name making it easier to gank players and for people to lose you in the midst of a huge pvp battle.

If you only really have one character, not including the cosmetics you'd probably realistically only spend 60 bucks and you'd be set, and then the value pack which is 15 bucks for 30 days OR you could just snipe it off the MP which is a bit hard but i've done it before.

That 60 would be for pets which give you more XP and pick up loot for you, and then maybe some weight increases

You get 5-6% from 58 to 59 with 3.35x the regular xp gain for 1hour on the second best xp grind location in the game. Without that xp increase you would grind for 50+ hours on 58 to 59 alone and this gets a lot harder when trying 59 to 60. The only wat I see you gaining that much xp is by beeing a witch/wiz with OP gear, and having the spot alone.
59 to 60 will take you about 2 months with the xp buffs you are using as well so I strongly disagree with 60 being softcap

It basically doubles the amount of XP you need per level. I'm on the 60 grind myself so now that I've thought it through you're correct with 59-60 being hell. I also now agree with you on 60 not being the softcap, but I do believe 59 is easily obtainable without destroying your life. I don't grind for hours on end so I think that's why I thought it wasn't so bad- I only grind when I have my 200% so an hour a day adds up pretty quickly. What do you think?

yes, there's a lot of ways to play each class in different situations, and you'll need to gear accordingly. i think you can re-do your skills and talents and all that stuff any time, but all your stats come from gear, so you'll need different sets of gear to optimize different types of builds

Okay, I see what you mean. For me personally, when I started I was very lucky with Sausans and Pirates when I first hit 56 with 110 AP and 180ish DP and they always let me in their groups, and on top of that I only grind for an hour. Others may not be as lucky and need to do other things to get their GS up before even attempting to grind, and then on top of that you have better geared players taking rotations from you because you're a wet noodle. I haven't had that struggle in a while. Those unable to take those spots are basically left with sub-par spots that give kind of slow silver/xp ratios, and does in fact take the XP grind to a whole new level. I haven't thought of that.
