If you didn't have to worry about money, what would your ideal profession be?
Mine would be woodworker/carpenter

Same
>>739452147
The only reason I ever got bored as a NEET is that I was always really poor. I'm 36 now and have been working for a really long time and I fucking hate it. There's probably another job out there that I'd like a lot better than the one I'm doing, but I don't think there's any job I'd like better than no job, if money were no object. Tbh I'm very badly depressed and I'm also really just not a very good person.

You need a job you enjoy. At my other job all I wanted was to quit and never work again, and even thought about becoming a neet somehow. Then I was out of work for only a month and even that was too much time. I found a job I enjoy and work barely feels like work, time flies by and I don't wanna kill myself at the end of the day
>>739452768
I hope so too anon, not being able to sleep fucking sucks

I've actually never though about it. I love archeology and history, but never went to college and don't plan on it. So, I'd love to join as a volunteer on dig sites, that sounds pretty fun.

Also, that woodshop looks pretty cozy.

My first thought was painter. Like not artistic or anything, just like paint houses fences walls in your house whatever. No one around, play music, make things look nice, sounds good.

But then anon said bartender and I remember I had a lot of fun doing that in college, would probably do that.

Gonna have to lean toward blacksmith or metal working, like a full on shop. Then actually design and build drone submersibles using science and shit. Send them on missions to explore the entire Atlantic ocean.

Either that or start a college, have a rating system for teachers based more on their attentiveness than the difficulty or pass/fail rate of the course. Focus on REAL education instead of testing. Promote practical examples of usefulness. Tuition is free, veterans are PAID to attend, high school diploma not required, don't care where you're from/age/gender/lifestyle.. if you want to be a furry anarchist with a horticulture degree and a minor in Inuit Healing Techniques, more power to ya.

I would run my own teahouse. Just a small chinese style place with a selection of high grade teas and an espresso machine for the plebs. Couple of homemade desserts in a display case and some light food like paninis.

I'm picturing wood interior with a bar, and a few tables but mostly booths along the walls. There would also be 2 larger back rooms that can fit around 15 people. Small kitchen in the back and might as well go all in and have a little apartment above it that I could live in.

Not too many clientele. Mostly regulars who use the place as a meeting ground and a quiet place to talk.

>Also don't you have anything else you'd wanna do? I love video games and all
but I wouldn't consider that my dream job

Part of depression is losing interest in things you once loved. Even videogames are a chore sometimes. Just hitting a few buttons to talk to old friends seems to cost more to me than I would ever gain by catching up with them. I don't even enjoy feeding myself. Why would I want to do anything, let alone something that benefits others, over and over again, day in, and day out when I don't even want to benefit myself? At least videogames change with each new disk.

Thread is more lively than other threads at this time of night. Picked a winner tonight.

I dunno what about my self-loathing is interesting but I'm glad you're getting something out of this thread.

Sometimes it feels like that episode of south park on cynicism where one of the kids sees everything through shit-colored glasses. I led an exciting early life (flew planes, travelled, paintball, exploring, misdemeanors, etc.) and that episode had a convenient explanation about burning out your receptors or some shit. Feels like I did that to myself with a combination of excitement, drugs, and apathy.

I think the difference between soul-crushing employment and livable/good employment is how interesting it can be

All jobs, by necessity are work for other people, but somebody else benefiting does not mean you cannot enjoy yourself in some way

I work as an Engineer and while I am simply a cog in a huge production, my job consists of solving small problems which are interesting and require me to think, kind of like puzzles in videogames. Overcoming a challenge like that often comes with more gratification (for me at least) than defeating a videogame puzzle precisely because me solving that is meaningful to other people.

PC gear, guns, permanent AV systems, and most recently, amateur astronomy, are likey places to start, based on current work/interests.

I also greatly appreciate reading reviews and advice on expensive gear of a hobby. Perhaps in this scenario, I could repay my blessings by helping others?

You can't hunt without becoming a hunter. I know the implication is that you're hunting for a limited time period/not being paid by a second party and you're therefore not a hunter but that's wordplay and not a merit of communism. You're still hunting. Hunter means "one who hunts", not "one who solely hunts as a means of survival". This is the level of cognitive dissonance that you have to be in-tune with to accept communism as a viable system.

Comrade, you have to understand that in a Capitalist system you are reduced to a mere cog in a profit-producing machine. The notion here is that within the purview of a capitalist society you are no longer human, rather, you are a means of producing Capital. Here Marx is claiming that in a Communist society you are able to establish an identity outside of your occupation, thereby fulfilling your need for self-actualization.

American conservatives ARE liberals though! They adhere to the same philosophy! Political liberalism is the belief that life, liberty, and property are innate human rights. Communists agree with the first two, but disagree with the latter.
As for the next bit, "people" don't control the market, "those with property" (the bourgeoisie) control the market. The people control very little, and are subjected to the whims of the social and economic Dictatorship of the Bourgeoisie.

You're ignoring the existence of small businesses, Comrade, in which the cog is the entire machine (an occurrence common to both the hunter while they hunt momentarily in a communist society, and the small business owner as they operate their business for however long is advantageous to them to operate in a capitalist society).

>The notion here is that within the purview of a capitalist society you are no longer human, rather, you are a means of producing Capital.
You both produce capital as "a mere cog" and consume capital as an individual human being requiring capital in order to survive (consumption of resources by humans is common to both capitalism and communism) and continue the cycle.

>Marx is claiming that in a Communist society you are able to establish an identity outside of your occupation, thereby fulfilling your need for self-actualization.

You're honestly better off teaching yourself via the internet than going to a university, unless you're in STEM, or want to be a doctor. (Philosophy is the one exception, just don't expect a job after it)

Every other subject is pointless drivel, taught by idiots.

I'm not saying don't learn important shit like History, just teach yourself.

Because defenseless minorities make good scapegoats. The more often a group gets victimized the more it gets the stigma of actually being something wrong with it.

Lol, i guess you are unaware what led up to the start of ww2. i guess you are unawere who the bolsoviks were, nor do you know why the jews were kid out of russia.

Most jews actually got exiled and not put in camps.
the camps being work camps and only the most feeble and political jews were killed.
in th eeast they just suffered 7 milljion deaths from starvation caused by the jews. s o they did kill all the jews there.

And look at the place now, no multicultural bullshits, with soros spending millions destabilizing the nations.

After ww2 Germans were murdered, during the war the Bolshevik hat hate propaganda calling for torturing and exterminating of Europeans , Today they are being exterminated by immigration.
