i have worked with downs and mentally disadvantaged patients for a long time. some are smarter than others, but all of them have something missing and something extra.

this is how i write my fluffies; the average one being smart enough to be trainable (do this, no questions or else...), but not really teachable (do this and here is why...)without excessive energy spent on it, whether through disciplining or way too much time used.

the real problems with them aren't the intelligence, its the hormones. they have the hormones of a teenager which can show up as aggression, affection or stubbornness. add this to something way too smart for what it is (smart enough to reason and deduce, but not enough to do so correctly without a lot of expereince) and you get a large population of mostly useless, quick breeding, short living trouble making creatures with a small population of ones that are especially bad.
