B. The animal has a chance of evading you or escaping

You are hunting in It's territory so the animal has the advantage of knowing It's way around for an easy escape ir ambush, you have the advantage of gun/bow. That's where the thrill and the true sportsmanship is, plus you get to eat them afterwards.
