Op, I have a friend who's house has too many animals in it. They routienly have to deal with a new litter of kittens about twice a year.

The amount of times I've gotten a call at 6am on a Saturday to borrow my shovel, I've come to realize that cats just don't have the lifespan we do. They die. It's a part of having them. You've got to feed them, change the litterbox, take them to the vet, and bury them when they expire. hey OP, I know it's hard, I had to do the same with my dog I had for 13 years. It was so difficult, but you have to focus on the good times. it's normal to be upset because you lost a good friend. In like a month get another pet and give them all of the love you still have for the cat you lost.
we got a new dog, and I was really not cool with that at first because i got my dog who died when I was 12. I didn't want to "replace" him. Now the new dog we have (from the same bloodline as my previous pet) is so wonderful and we've bonded. I love him a lot. I'm honoring my old dog by taking care of his descendant.

My mom and I regularly rescue rehab and re-home strays in our area. About 2 months ago, shortly after our cat's diagnosis, we rescued a young cat destined for my mother in law's house. Turns out she was pregnant. Vet said due to size and age after an exam that she would have 2 or at most 3 kittens. After 6 grueling hours of labor, she had 4. We thought it was over, and everything was settled down, then all of the sudden she popped out a fifth.

She was small, and ended up with an eye infection and somehow ear mites, but we took good care of her. I told my fiancee that since we don't know how much time we had left with our other cat, the one I said goodbye to today, we should keep the last kitten. If we didn't, I reasoned, we would be very upsetting to lose our cat and also not have the kitten. We decided to keep her and named her Delphine. Her nickname is Mismo because she looks the same as my parents cat, and Mismo is Spanish for "the same."

Last week we took fluffy kitty (the late) and she got to meet Mismo and all the other kittens. She was so happy.

Soon we will bring her home.
