use a trigger word when outside and repeat it constantly as they're doing their business outside. like,"go potty" and "yes, good boy/girl" to reinforce the behavior.

last, give them a treat every time they go piss/shit outside. start by giving them a lot so they learn quickly and then over time you gradually lower the amount of treats given to them to the point where you're just using command.

i got two dogs--one smart and one dumb as fuck, and even the dumb as fuck dog was able to make the connection. good luck with the training!

My dog hated it too. One day a friend of mine with a golden retriever and I took them to a creek near my house. He saw the retriever going after stuff in the water and waded in. We did few of these play dates and each time he would go into deeper water. Now he loves it, and will even swim. But still hates baths.
