I took one when I was ~7 and I was placed at 140+, tested into special gifted and talented programs all throughout my adolescence, now I'm studying in a good college. Intelligence quotients are not a reliable indicator of actual intelligence. If you look hard enough, you can easily find people above 100 IQ who are actually pretty foolish, and you can find people below 100 who are actually intelligent.

Perhaps an anecdotal story isn't good form, but I myself have 120 IQ. I'm unemployed, dropped out of school at 16, and don't have much to show for what the IQ graded me. On the other hand, my good friend has an IQ of 94. 6 below average. He is undoubtedly the smartest person I've known in real life, he boasts an illustrious academic record, and holds many titles in philosophy and theology (including metaphysics).

His handle on logistics is fucking solid, and he speaks with perfect articulation. So, as far as I'm concerned, IQ tests aren't reliable. They might be able to indicate that someone has a good feel for problem solving, but for other fields of knowledge it doesn't really scratch the surface.

I'm not overly interested in money, so I don't see the point of university for that avenue, I'm smart but not smart enough I'll ever do anything truly meaningful.

I wanted to go to university for the experience, and to talk to people (Who can talk). But it's just like advanced high school these days. (Basically lots of "normal" people)

I know it's a meme that high IQ = socially awkward, but I've never been that.

I'm okay with being around people of all intelligence, you can usually at least learn one thing from anyone.

When I was a child I was diagnosed with a mild case of Cerebral Palsy. Part of the diagnosis included extensive testing of my cognitive function because Cerebral Palsy can affect affect it quite severely. I was found to be of above average intelligence. Basically, my Cerebral Palsy affected the development of my fine motor skills, but did not affect me intellectually. I am actually quite lucky. A lot of people with it are crippled and/or mentally challenged. I've managed to have a fairly normal life in spite of it. I did have to take physical therapy back in elementary school.

here ya go, the timetable. Not all evening slots are filled, but some are. Even leaving those out it comes to 35 hours.
With projects and practicum (2 days) you have no breaks except 45 minutes at 12:30.
So yeah, pretty near 40 hours at school per week. It becomes a bit less in year 3, but the first 2 are really like that.

Far too many people misunderstand IQ. The point is to measure intelligence which is normally related to logic and reasoning. Intelligence is not smartness or clever, they're all different. Take a book smart person who's really good at learning and know's pretty much everything, winning every quiz they enter. They might only have an IQ of 80, because intelligence has nothing to do with knowledge. Likewise, being smart, general relates to being street smart or being perceptive and knowledgeable of social norms e.g. ability to cook or ability to go to a party have a few drinks and socialise with people thinking you're normal.

All these things are completely separate to intelligence which is why being intelligent doesn't have any bearing on many of the things mentioned here like getting a good job and things like that.

Also, many people take the shitty Facebook quizzes to determine IQ in 5 questions and gives everyone a little confidence boot of 150+.

The proper tests are normalised so that the average score of people taking it is between 90-110.

Try Stanford-Binet test as this is one that's officially endorsed by MENSA. Also the MENSA site themselves have samples too. I did one when I was younger and another this morning and I'm around 135-145 - proper tests usually band you rather than a full score.

Grade school when I was 7.
They thought something was wrong since I refused to show my work, do homework, was causing problems in class, etc.
Turns out I had an IQ (back then) of 140+ (the highest it would go for children's testing). Hey figured I was bored if the same work the other kids was doing, so I got switched to a school for the academically gifted and talented.
Problems ended because things were more challenging and interesting for me.

Last year I got a 99 in an STEM class and the semester after that a 100 in the follow up STEM class.

I do remember when I was a kid they gave me an "intelligence/grade level test" to see what grade level I'd fit and I exceeded the maximum grade level of the exam. No one would let me skip grades cause I was in LD classes/normal classes.

It's like a curse knowing your IQ is very high, but you don't get officially recognized for it. Everyone I come across (including professors) straight up tell me I'm highly intelligent unprompted.

I had one professionally administered once. I had a bad habit of not turning in my homework and ignoring the teacher during class but still got a 100% on every test. The teacher assumed I was cheating so she started making separate tests for me and I had to take them in the hall. When she couldn't find evidence of cheating she directed me to a psychologist.

It was a 40 question visual test where you had to find patterns and choose the image that completed the pattern.

I got every question right. Which apparently means "immeasurable", but depending on the person scoring it they sometimes call it 140 and sometimes call it 200

The psychologist then went on a 30-minute tirade about how God gave me a gift and I shouldn't spoil my gift and I need to make the world a better place, yadda yadda,... then I got on /b/ and wasted my life.

I did Astrophysics and some of the people on my course we're completely retarded and were not smart in the slightest, but they turned up to every lecture, studied for all the tests, read all the additional material and got good grades. I only ever took one in middle school (I think 6th grade) for the school's special classes (they called it "gifted"). Basically, if you had an IQ of 130+ you could take special classes while still taking normal classes.

Now that you cleared your statement, I agree. A math degree does include a lot of memorizing how proofs work, logical interferences, axioms, previous proof techniques (often you modify them to fix your particular problem) and other theorems.
