It sometimes feels like it used to be more unashamedly weird, used to be a lot of CP posted at random (don't miss that tbqh), used to have more weaboos. Also used to be a lot less stable - it never seems to fall over nowadays.

As Internet culture began to expand into the mainstream media a lot of the Internet lost its unrefined yet earnest charm and 4chan is no different. You can see the admins attempts at preserving it like adding new boards to filter cancer out of /b/ and other places even though /b/ started out as a filter it's self. When your filter needs filtering something's gone wrong. There are about 80% more trap threads you laugh you lose is garbage now. Part of it maybe me just maturing since I was 17 when I first found this site and I'm 26 now. But over all it's very different it's still similar in a lot of ways but it's not the same there a lot of kids and normies now and there were only a few in the old days.

Yeah I guess you're right about the admins not trying, especially now, what's acceptable shit posting has always been a grey area that changes over time. When they first made /soc/ I was stoked to get a lot of those cancer threads moved but as of late I don't see any mods do anything at all, at least on /b/. People used to take time and effort out of their days to make original content for this site, I don't think anyone's made any true original content for 4chan in years.

People used to actually argue and have fun with it like this site was meant for instead of instantly yelling"bait" and other shit. That was the point to bait them into replying, but now that's all ruined.

Traps were a rarity, word filters still existed, MLP wasn't a thing yet, this site was obscure at the time until mainstream media used the sites name, which led to an influx of new users.
There's been a couple movies released that have made this site mainstream too, pixels for example.
The raids some anons did to Tumblr and other various sites led to newfags coming and shitting the place up too.

The main reason I stay anymore is mostly out of habit from coming here so long, and the occasional decent thread you find buried on page 9-10 at 2-4am when most the cancer is asleep.
