Last time I tipped, was in a small restaurant out in the middle of nowhere.

Server was cute AF and I knew she could prob do with extra coin, so I left a $100 tip along with my number and the hotel I was staying at and the following written on to the receipt:

"More where that came from. I'm in town for two days. Call me when you get off your shift".

A few hours later, around 1AM I get a phone call from the server, tell her to come over.

She's in my hotel room and says she doesn't do this often, she's not a whore, yadda yadda but she needs the cash due to an unexpected bill.

Next thing I'm fucking her brains out and force anal too. Shit was cash, came buckets.

In the morning, I told her to gtfo and didn't pay her a single penny. I also checked out of the hotel and went on with my life.

I tip because I like being served. The servers at the restaurants I frequent know me, they bring our drinks without asking because they know what we drink. If there is an issue or messed up order, *pop* it's off the bill. the servers bend over backward to serve well and I tip well for their excellent service. Sometimes they even leave things off the bill like an appetizer or drinks, and I tip like they were on there anyway. It's well worth 5 or 10 bucks whatever, to be treated like royalty. What I've noticed here in Mexico asides from the US is that here people actually work for their tip instead of being a self entitled person that thinks that because their job sucks they should do it even worse therefore people will say OMG poor bastard with such a bad job and such bad pay, let's leave a big tip

here in Mexico it's common to leave 15% of the bill as a tip but the difference is like I said, people earning their tips

a few examples:

waiter/waitress comes by the table a few times asking if everything's cool

not being dicks while asking about stuff in the menu

if you order beer and be underage they won't card you as long as you keep it cool, this happens a lot with my nephews

as a regular, it's cool for the restaurant's staff to actually remember you so when you're ordering they know how you like your food

90% of delivery places don't provide a car and don't compensate for gas or any maintenance costs. Some, but not as many, pay their drivers tip wage. Usually about $5/hour, as is the case for me.

The average cost to me as a delivery driver is $.25/mile. This includes gas, maintenance, and devaluation.

So if you live 5 miles away, round trip that is 10 miles. That cost me $2.50 to deliver your food. If you don't tip, that's $2.50 less I made that hour.

It's just the reality of the situation when you order delivery. Consider not being a fuck.

I used to tip whenever I visited the US, even though I think it's retarded I'd just shrug, different culture different rules and all that, and I'd heard waiters only get paid like $2 an hour. I'd feel bad when some pretty waitress brought me food and I knew she was making less than a Mexican on a farm. But on the last tipping thread someone said if they make below minimum wage including tips then the restaurant has to pay the difference? Couldn't be arsed fact checking but I will before I next go to America, if it's true then I'm not tipping a fucking penny!

So you idiots do realize that the whole point of tipping is to encourage the waiters to do a good job right?

At the end of the day, the restaurant business is one that has always been a place for the "lower-class," people who don't have a lot of education or experience. Anybody can serve a table with a bit of training.

Thing is, there is not actually that much money in most restaurants. Some sure, but most run on fairly short profit margins. They can't afford to pay these guys $12+ an hour. But with tips, they can make that and more.

Assume you're a college student. You need a part time job, and you need to make good money for your time cuz you don't got a lot of it in the first place.. Good fucking luck finding anything that's gonna pay you over minimum wage, the job market can't support it, or at the very least the business owners aren't going to be that generous. With tips though, if you work hard and make good impressions on your tables, you can make good money for good work. That's something that you simply cannot do at 95% of other entry-level jobs.

So yeah, go ahead and complain about an extra $3 on your meal, which was cooked and served especially for you, and take it for granted.
