Its not that they "hacked the ELECTION," because if it was that direct we would have heads on poles. They hacked private information and released it to media(WikiLeaks). This caused the voting populous to form opinions, kinda like advertisements and promotions. Not that they changed numbers in the election, they just indirectly affected the results.

Now a disclaimer: I dont believe they did or didn't. I'm on the fence waiting for FBI director Mueller to conclude his investigation along with the special senate council that formed for Comey's testimony.
