Well one objective basis for morality being biological is how we survived as a species.
We're a social animal that survived by working together and avoiding behavior that would be detrimental for the tribe, i.e. killing, raping and stealing. These things could fuck up the cohesion of the group and basically spell doom for the tribe, since cooperation is how they survived.
We've just expanded our tribe to include all people and made the social contract for tribal cohesion into law and made arguments for it being moral behavior.

My greatest contention with the notion of god, is that people use it to stop investigating things we don't understand yet.
It's basically the difference between asking "Why is the sky blue" and getting "god made it so" from religious people and "That's a good question, lets find out" from science minded people.
