Actually working gives a sense of fullfillment. Thats how humans are made. You work, you earn and you feel happy, that is if you feel that you are not geyting scrrwed on pay or something else. I dropped out of high school, but took a year at a community college to get some basic knowledge on IT shit, and then hopped right into the technical workforce at 19.
I'm 33 now with my own house, 2 cars, and a girlfriend.
So if there's any youths who are worrying about life, just pick up a trade that you think you'll enjoy and take some classes. Trades are always in more demand than a diploma (unless it's to be a doctor).

A sous-chef de cuisine (French for "under-chef of the kitchen") is a chef who is "the second in command in a kitchen; the person ranking next after the head chef." Consequently, the sous-chef holds a lot of responsibility in the kitchen, which can eventually lead to promotion to becoming the executive chef.

Taking some courses in computer programming, software engineering, or any IT field will help you in this line of work.
Idk how it works at other companies, but at where I work and the other places we associate with, we don't give a fuck about your diploma or your GED.
We only look at college classes you took/experience if you have any.

I'll tell you right now though, working IT takes a lot of dedication. I've only started being able to relax after I've been promoted to manager of my department. It'll take lots of work to get to a comfortable position, but if you stay dedicated, then you'll be on track to an early retirement like myself.

Finding a job in a technical field is simple. There's freelance work that you can do for yourself, which I do on the side sometimes, and then there's working for companies to keep their bullshit from ruining their business. Basically, the further we get into the 21st century, the increase of demand for an IT guy grows.

Well I'm a first year teacher after a few different experiences as a long term sub.

Is it worth it? Ultimately yes. But on the day to day basis it's very taxing.

I'm highly introverted, It's easy to seem sociable, but after those classes, it drains me entirely. And it's not really the teaching, grading, etc. It's more the baggage students bring to you after they trust you.

Parents divorce. Suicidal. Molested. So forth.

And as a 25 year old, I'm thinking - do I have the skill sets or experience to help these young adults? In the end you can be there for them, do a little extra like I do sometimes to help (treat them to a meal, not allowed by the way). But it's emotionally taxing.

You teach for high school or middle school?
A buddy of mine is an 8th grade science/math teacher and (no homo) is pretty damn good looking. He's also 28.

He complains that he doesn't know if he wants to work with middle schoolers anymore because some girls have crushes on him and that starts up bad rumors and sort of puts a dampen on his relationships with his coworkers. I feel like it would only be worse at a high school. Your opinion, m8?

I teach highschool. Last year was largely juniors, this year will be seniors.

It happens, but not really for looks. If you think about good teachers, they're responsible, decent human beings that the kids see on a daily basis. The crushes, if any, are really out of role model-ship. You really get to see our personality and attitudes since you see us everyday.

But you know, if I was 18 or 19 again, I'd probably think - sick, young girls dig me!

But when you have them as students, the relationship is a lot different. Yeah, of course when they dress scantily clad I might be turned on because of the skin. But to even consider touching them - that's disgusting. They trust you. Don't break that trust.

I teach in California. The certification process is longer than most states, beaten out I think only by New York.

It takes on average 1-2 years, for me 1.5.

There is some testing, but it's not really the tests you have to be concerned with. California has something called PACT for teachers, which is a fairly large portfolio documenting your teaching process during a test semester (you get a master teacher looking after you).

The PACT ranges anywhere from 30-50 pages of type-work, all of your resources used during the semester, student works, and is graded on a rubric by PACT readers.

After about 1-2 years with the first credential, you have to do BTSA, which is like PACT part 2 but I hear less tedious (doing it this year).

Sounds like a really awful bureaucratic process anon (but I'm not surprised on account of you being in California and all). Both my parents are teachers in N.Y. and I don't remember them mentioning having to do anything this shitty to get their masters in the field.
>>
>>735057649

P.S. pro tip for the new people in the field

99.9999+% uptime is god atm. Deploy using blue/green or rolling updates, using TDD and CICD such as circle deploying to EBS just fucking make sure your application is stateless, and use temporary datasources with non-sequential pk's (or better yet, use nosql) so you can spool up rds instances appropriately

Auth0 provides reliable authentication to handle this sort of capacity too.

And for the fucking love of christ, do TDD. I got my masters by doing a paper on it and the TLDR is if you don't tdd, you're a fucking retard.

It is. In order to justify a fairly low-middle class salary for teachers with benefits, there are many hoops and barrels to jump through.

Your parents might not have had to go through this since PACT and BTSA are relatively newer requirements. Don't worry, more is probably to come.

Or if I recall, having a masters in your field exempts you from some/(maybe) all of the requirements. I wouldn't know. I just jumped on the teaching profession right after my B.A. and credential. Currently doing masters very slowly to not overwhelm schedule - and to get a small stipend, i suppose.

I used to do this and I'd bring a separate box with me. Would take out 1 of everything throughout the night and fill the box + they'd give me free rice.

End of the night I'd have a mountain of food that pretty much go me through a few years. My heart still hurts to this day...

Every company pays differently. I'd investigate several, but I drive for Prime, Inc. None of our equipment is over 4 years old. Bleeding edge of trucking. A lot of other companies buy equipment from us., when past the 4 year mark. I'm happy here.

Yeah, teaching doesn't pay to much, but after almost 30 years each, my parents rake in around 200k a year between the two of them. I know my dad does some tutoring and also works as an insurance broker on the side. I admire their work ethic, since I don't really have any myself.

The one perk is, yes, the salary automatically goes up every year by contract.

So most teachers start at 55k/year now, and it rises 2-3k per year.

Typically after 20+ years, schools will consider giving you something called "the golden handshake." Since it's expensive to pay 90-100k a year for a teacher, even if they're very good, they will offer you to retire with 2 years of your salary as a bonus.

Usually though, teachers who retire from teaching just become supervisors for the teaching credential program - which is actually well paying.

Example: in California, Santa Clara University is paying my old HS English teacher 110k a year since he has taught for 30~ years.

okay faggots. Some would think /b/ isn't the best place to find advice, but I'm really confused here.

Should I go into the Air Force? I really want to fly planes and shit.

I live literally right across the street from a small airport, and want to get a license there, but classes are kinda expensive.

I DO live right up the street to an airforce recruiter, so that works out. My brother tells me military just isn't worth it, as he's been there before. He also tells me I'd be fucked anyway because I need glasses, and they won't let me fly anything.

What do homies?

The vast majority of people who go into the airforce never fly, and yes, the fact that you need glasses means you'll never fly combat, ever.

Maybe supply if you're REALLY fucking good and I mean, way better than all the other perfectly "able bodied" pilots who you'll be competing with.

You're the kind of person who trashes other people for not having to earn their way in life. You're the type of person that gets off by telling people they're small; when really, you're trying to hide your own insecurity; because you're really a nobody and always will be.

How do I know this? My ex-girlfriend was just like you. People will get sick of your shit and move on, OR you will be surrounded by vacuous idiots with no substance, just like yourself; and then when you DO meet a girl that blows your mind, she'll see through your bullshit and leave you destroyed.

I ain' even mad. But I do want you to remember those words. You will wake up one day feeling totally disheveled; and not know how to do anything about it. Mark my words.
