I work in retail and recently everyone's hours have been getting cut, which is why I'm in the process of finding a new job.

Also, if OP is still here, there's a bunch of ways to get free food from places if you're going hungry. There are food pantries where I live. Definitely look them up, I think they may allow anyone to get stuff regardless of having some form of proof that you're poor.

There's also plenty of places that give you free stuff on signing up or on your 'birthday.' You can put your birthday on the next day and print out a coupon for a free burger/sandwich/meal at a place. Many of them don't ask for proof.
