I wouldn't know why I'd EDC a knife for anyway. I'm not living in a dangerous eighbourhood or working in a kitchen or anything like that
>>
>>734647730

I open a few boxes and packages at work daily, maybe cut some zipties on items, wash and then cut some fruit daily. Not really difficult to find a lot of uses for a pocketknife.
>>
>>734647902
Fair enough, but as a student? I don't have to open any kind of boxes besides the amazon ones and for that I can just use my kitchen knives.

Hmm... maybe fruit cutting, but besides that, I don't think I'd need one

I feel yea. I had to sell a strider a year or so ago to buy a new clutch, but i bought a new one after. I have a baton too.
>>
I have a 940 in standard green. I'm never buying bechmades again. The 940 had an uneven grid that I had to fix myself which was a bitch. It's almost a $300 knife and they fuck that up? So I gave them another chance and got their new bali morpho and omg is it a piece of shit. I paid almost $300 when it first came out. It's the quality of a $60 knife or less. I had to locktite all the screws cause they would instantly pop out when flipping. The plastic handles looks like shit their "titanium" liners are thin and look cheap. The blade is tool steel and rusting. You cannot take of the clip. Anyway fuck Benchmade don't buy their shit.

I carry a coldsteel ti lite had it for years and it still looks like it's almost new. Benchmade not even once.
>>
>>734652137
the batons are good fun. plus people who are new to collecting shit like this always get impressed when you whip out the baton.
>>
>>734652253
really? i've bought several benchmades over the years and never had a problem except for an issue with play in a smaller knife...

do they replace knives if you send them back to the manufacturer? i mean i get that you're over it now, i'm just kinda curious

Theyll usually just fix an issue with a knife before sending a replacement. Its a pain in the ass thonto pay for shipping and then wait 2-6 weeks for them to return it.
>>
>>734652434
I don't know what they do. In the case of the morpho what's the point to replace anything if it sucks to begin with.

The 940 is a great knife I'm just pissed it came with an uneven grind in the edge. Maybe they would have fixed it if I tried but fuck that I paid for top dollar and I wasn't going to waste more time with them.

at first i hated the lenght too. but now i must admit that it's the perfect size for my every day needs.

I am paranoid plus I was thought in my trainings to have a grab and go knife with me in every situation. Used to sleep in tents too, and always had my izula next to me.

I've thought about it, any suggestions? Not trying to break the bank but I'd still want one a reliable one that won't break anytime soon

Randall Made's are the shot, but there is no way you EDC a model 1. I have one, and it is too long for EDC. (mine's the 7")

I do EDC a Randall Made Guardian, with an ironwood handle and all black spacers
>>
>>734667571
Just get a flipper, a bunch of modern folders are easily opened one handed with the exception of slip joints and knives with weird locks or opening mechanisms.
>>
>>734667497
Why were you thought to do that in trainings?

Were you thought to ninja?
>>
>>734667280
I've handled a couple, but it's not even the blade length, I just want a slightly larger body/scales. Although I got accustomed to larger overbuilt folders, so that's part of the problem I imagine. Looks great though.

Here is a sítation for you;

>3 am
>window breaks
>hear two niggers talking
>they are coming your way quick

What would you do ?
I would grab my knife that's conveniently next to my bed and move into a position what would provide me the advantage of surprise, so I could have a higher chance of disarming them. Keep in mind that (You) wont have much time in a situation like that and surely not enough to search for another knife/weapon.
The best weapon you have is the one you have with you when the shit hits the fan.

Also we had a knife next to us in the tent in chase of an animal attack or if, for some reason we couldn't have unzipped the door and had to escape in a hurry, but that scenario was very unlikely.
>>
>>734667975
Check out the lightning otf, or the boker autos. Theyre both surprisingly good quality for $40ish
>>
>>734669760
Or keep a pistol next to the bed.
>>
>>734669876
I wish I lived in burgerland
:^)
>>
>>734669764
Thanks man, I'll probably end up getting the lightning otf just for the obvious cloning of a microtech design
>>
>>734670576
Yea the lightnings a def ripoff of a scarab. Its less quality than the bokers but its a lot more fun.
>>
>>734669760
I have a shotgun in the closet and a handgun in the nightstand. A knife would be an absolutely last resort. It's silly, but you're better off shooting someone here.
>>
>>734669764
It's shit, poorfag.
>>
>>734670789
Lucky for you guys, I live in a certain central-European country and owning firearms is basically impossible here:
>psychiatry test every 6 month
>legit reasoning in case you want something bigger than a 22
>clean criminal record
>drug test every 2 month
>a safety instruction
>attending the local shooting range every week
>some other bullshit
>a lot of money
>gun prices are double too compered to the us

Fun fact: even after you have the license you can only carry a gun in a locked box on the street, cant even concealed carry unless you are a sec guard/money transfer dude.
>>
>>734649588
First time seeing a Randall on here. I have 1-7 and a combat companion but never carried much unless I was in the woods
>>
>>734654963
My Hinderer is a great knife and very smooth. Maybe they have changed
>>
>>734671992
Sounds like it's time to move
>>
>>734672252
Most of them aren't meant to be flippers, they weren't designed that way, Rick has talked about it before. Not the smoothest action compared to some other flippers, but not too bad IMO.
>>
>>734672534
At least I'm assuming that's what he was getting at.

Anyway, Rick is partially responsible for the reputation fo them not being the best flippers, because they weren't designed to be flippers, despite the tab.

Although there are flipper Hinderer models now ofc.
>>
>>734672534
Maybe I got lucky then, mine flips great. Usually like carrying fixed blades tho.
>>

Sometimes I'll carry an ESEE 4, but it's usually an off the body carry unless I'm innawoods.

Still looking for a fixed blade that wouldn't seem outta place for urban carry, that I also like anyway.
>>
>>734673074
Save your money, m8.

If you're insistent there are a few okay starter balisongs you might be able to have sent. Brb, lemme look up your import law again.
>>
>>734673466
So balisongs are illegal in the UK, but I don't think you would have much issue with a trainer. Go the bottle opener or pen route if you're worried about the law.

I'd be willing to ship one to you, but it's a crapshoot with customs. There's got to be a few vendors that'll still send them over there. And I know some /k/ommando has had to been down this road already.
>>
>>734673719
Yeah the customs is the edgy part, I don't understand how the system works when they get a package come through

>>
>>734674023
I've received dope in the mail from outside the US on multiple occasions, pretty sure it's somewhat arbitrary. All of those packages still had customs forms, so I imagine any legitimate vendor is going to say what it is on the form.

A trainer or maybe a knife with a wave function might be the way to go if you aren't interested in a plain jane stabby thing.
