Why don't they do a Star Trek Timelines type series?
They could just do a couple episodes bouncing around different times with different crews and ships. The show would never get boring. Just do like 5 episodes for each time line. You can extend longer if needed.

-You could have the Earth-Romulan war, where you don't get to see the enemy faces, just lots of nukes in space.
-The Federation-Cardasian war.

"Enterprise" was pre TOS and it had a female captain in it, captain of the Columbia. There can be plenty of arguments for it changing a lot of the lore but I liked that "Enterprise" also made attempts to explain some of the changes between TOS and TNG. Like why the Klingons of TOS time had no forehead ridges because they tried to use the augemnt genetics. Also, how Noonien Soong went from working on the augments to artifical life forms (ie: Lore/Data). Lots of little things like that kind of made up for the more hard to believe shit like "Wow everything is all lcd touchscreen and then x years later in kirks time they reverted to buttons and sliders".
