For those of us not looking to learn to properly care for a straight razor (and those little disposable blade straight razor things are kinda lame), I HIGHLY suggest a double edged shaving razor.

They're cheap (15-30 dollars US to start with), and the razors are ridiculously cheap, but high quality.
They shave just as well as any cartridge multiblade razor on the market (those things are retardedly expensive).
I used to own a shick hydro 5 and paid through the ass for cartridges for it, and before that I used disposable razors.

the damn things are stupidly expensive, and they aren't even as good as an old fashioned double edge wet shaver.

And you don't need too much special stuff for it, just your favorite shaving cream/gel/soap, two hands, and the razor.

A ton of people talk about their ultra expensive deluxe ______ hair brushes, but those things don't do shit in my experience (I have a rather rough beard, and it's like brushing steel wires with goose down, it does NOTHING), so I just wet the soap and my hands, lather by hand, and apply. (The ridges on your hands actually creates a smoother, finer, richer lather from the shaving soaps than thick synthetic/boar/badger hair bristles, and +10x as fast as well.)

The blades can go about 3-4 shaves before you even START feeling any difference in sharpness (2 if you have a beard practically made of steel wool), but at the price of 1.049 cents a blade, and the fact that I shave once every 2-3 days, I like the luxury of just tossing it whenever I feel like it.

Sometimes I use it til I start to feel it dull, other times I just toss the blade if it's convenient not to have a sharp blade in something that sits in a drawer or on my bathroom counter.

And even if you shave once a day, every day year-round, it's still FAR cheaper than anything else on the market (aside from if you use a straight razor, but that takes effort, you have to invest more money into it what with buying a stropp and proper sharpening accessories, and then you have to invest the time to learn to use and sharpen the razor correctly (one false move with the blade to the sharpening stone and you've DESTROYED the cutting edge on your spendy new straight razor).
