Religion is a memeplex that controlled behaviors that maximized reproduction. Now they are largely waived away, and we could expect homosexuality to evolve away (mostly, not fully) because there are no social clamps forcing them to (heterosexually) marry and have babies, pushing their "born that way" genes to the next generation.

This shouldn't take too many generations, but nobody will live to see it. Also, scientific genetic engineering and virtual reality and other advancements will make it all moot at about the same time.
