Terribly sad alcohol is accepted as a norm in nearly every culture. Don't get me wrong i have done my fair share of drinking, but about 2 years ago I had an acid trip that changed that. Never did I think I could be happy without drinking. It's time for psychs to be recognized as great healers that should be used to fix and not just band aid symptoms. In my honest opinion, a lot of people being labeled with depression and anxiety these days all have deep underlying issues that they are to afraid to face. Psyched substances FORCE you to face these issues which in return causes a bad trip because your ego does not want to face the issues it wants you to forget and keep suppressing.
Don't worry though folks, times are changing and these chemicals are being researched again after 20-30 years

Hi OP. Older hippie dude here. I think that most of these posters have relatively little experience with acid, because none of them are mentioning the basics. If you check out the /psy/ board, they'll know more about this stuff.

Anyway, let me give you a bit of info. I'm an activist for the legalization and normalization of psychedelic drugs. I belong to my local psychedelic society, and I won't identify myself, because outside of my regular drug use, I'm a pretty normal, active member of society.

So, let's dive in.

The two basic things in having a good trip are called set and setting.

Set is basically your mindset.

Setting is almost everything else.

A good set is like this. You're ready for the trip wherever it takes you, because you're doing acid, it's not much of a guide on its own, so you should bring activities like maybe something creative that you want to complete. This will help you get the most out of your trip. You're likely to be disoriented when you first start tripping and aren't used to how it affects your brain, both in terms of your thoughts and your perceptions, and you should be prepared for this.You should possibly have a goal in mind, to help guide you through the trip. This can be as simple as wanting to enjoy the visuals (LSD will change how you physically see things, be prepared for this. You'll see "spiritual geometry" and possibly other visual distortions during your trip. I sometimes see living tattoos on my arms, and my blanket feels like a cuddly creature. It can be more complex, like solving a complicated scientific problem or understanding your relationship with your atomic family, and its evolution as you become older.

Okay. I'm going to put together some setting info first, though, as this can be really crucial on acid, specifically.

Setting is equally important, but much broader. I feel like, individually, these things are less important until they become a problem, and then on acid, the problem can be huge. Setting basically encompasses everything else, from your physical and legal safety to your physical state. Beyond your well-being, it includes the physical place that you're in and the kinds of stimuli that they present. Is it a social setting or more solitary? If there are other people there, will they all be on drugs, too?

Many recommend a babysitter to help you handle these aspects; someone who is experienced specifically with LSD. A babysitter ensures your safety physically, but also psychologically. The experience of using LSD can be rather extreme, and many prefer to go with some kind of guide.

LSD will enhance all of your perceptions and you may not be prepared for what that means in realistic terms. Setting also encompasses aspects of this. If you feel good, you will have a more positive trip. If you are physically uncomfortable, that discomfort can literally dominate your thoughts to the degree that it seems to encompass your entire existence. Many people perform some kind of cleanse or fast beforehand in order to assure that they don't feel nauseous. Even mild diarrhea can feel practically like you're dying when you peak on acid. While extensive preparation is unnecessary, I wouldn't recommend tripping on any psychedelic, but particularly on acid if you feel at all sick. A simple head cold can feel like respiratory failure in this state.

I wouldn't recommend tripping in public for the first time. I have been on something like 25 drug trips, and I still really don't like tripping in public. It's too disorienting, you're too paranoid, and too much could go wrong.

The funny thing I learned my first time taking acid is that psychedelic still pictures are really fun and cool to look at, but animated gifs are kind of lame. With still pictures, you stare at it for a few seconds, and they start to move on their own, it's pretty cool.

So, probably 100ug. Get some marijuana to smoke as it will induce the LSD peak. At 100ug, you'll be a bit more lucid and to get the best visuals, you'll want to smoke a lot of pot with it.

I'd recommend doing this indoors, though. Bumping into a person you're not expecting on your first trip is no good.

No, but it will force the drug to peak. If that's your shatter, it's nice and amber and it's got a decent amount of indica, I don't think an anxiety attack will be a problem.

Remember set and setting. Have your mind and everything else prepared, and an anxiety attack is far less likely.

It will really fuck with your perceptions, though.

When I was 15/16 I did acid about 6 times and shrooms twice. Can't say I recommend over indulging because the last 3 times were bad trips that seriously fucked me up for a few years. I would recommend doing it once to anyone, but doing it more than that you are really rolling the dice. But as far as advice for the trip? Put on something that isn't dark. Like don't put on any shows that will have any negative things it it like Family guy or American Dad. Put something positive on that you know will make you happy. Most of all, just stay positive and enjoy the experience.

Separate yourself from technology, as parleying with anything of the sort will seem alien and perverse.
Organise questions you've had a hard time answering thus far. Acid will help you with them.
Plan visual-based activities that are rich in texture and detail, because you will notice and drink in every piece of information as fast as you can think. Anything below 1080p will seem like dogshit. Outside is ideal.
If you are normally creative, set up situations in which you can outlet your creativity, because there is a chance to forget good ideas while pulling out a sketchbook, microphone, guitar, etc.
Coordinate warm drinks like hot tea, as acid will make it very easy to get chilly, and will doubtlessly induce shivers.

if you hit a bad wave or feel like its gonna last forever remember its a drugs, it wears off, you cant die, and you're safe

It can be hard to sleep so have a benzo on hand - this is also helpful if you cant stop riding bad waves

I like smoking some weed on the come up. once your tripping, your just smoking to smoke. make sure you have everything you need before you start. a shower is one of my favorite things on acid. it just feels absolutely amazing. I have fucked a few times on acid. it's not as amazing as you may think. it's hard to get hard and stay hard, I couldn't imagine beating off. just be a pain in the ass to get it up. someone said delete people in your phone that can tug on heart strings. that's a good idea but you should just try to avoid your phone in general. I haven't seen good results from people texting and shit. I also love taking late night walks on acid. see if you can find a cute female to trip with. like i said sex is whatever. but damn does the body contact feel good.
