don't you have a PC? get some recording program that supports asio so you can plug guitar directly into pc and use pc as zero latency amp as well as effects and recording and stuff
personally I use renoise
gonna post some stuff maybe I guess, bumping for now tho so thread doesn't expire
also your stuff sounds incredibly bland and insincere, are you trying to pick up chicks?
>>
>>733468081
asio?
>>
>>733468137
yes
you can use asio4all if you don't have a supported sound card, but the limitation with that is that ONLY the active asio program can output audio. basically it just lets you get input and output with zero latency, p. much necessary for using an instrument through a computer.

i prefer real and authentic sound (recording with smartphone or little micro)

Jee sus Christ on a fucking jet ski..... how.... what do I need to do. I already practice technical shredding stuff but I can't do THAT! That is the level I want to get to man. I have fun and make good music, but I want to melt faces. Did you just practice the solo until you got it to speed or can you shred in jams too?
>>
>>733474922
I really really wish I knew someone like you to teach and inspire me. How long have you been playing?
>>
>>733475580
>>733475732
Thanks! :D I'm glad you like it!

Well, i've been playing for about 10+ years now so i have my gear & tone sorted. The thing about playing fast and clean is that you have to practice all of it really slow. Then increase the tempo with a metronome. It's very cliche, but it's the only method that works. I can improv jam. Knowing your fretboard and scales helps a lot. And it's pretty easy once you have memorised the scales and shapes. I'll try and record an improv and post!
>>

>>
>>733475929
I know my scales pretty well. I mostly play jazz so you have to know some weird stuff. How do you like your ibanez? I play on a really nice American telecaster that I absolutely love don't get me wrong, but do you think that I would have an easier time with a guitar like yours? It seems pretty awesome, and I don't get to do divebombs so that would be fun haha. I know jimmy page shredded on a tele but newer guitars are made with that sort of playing in mind. What do you think? Oh also, does string size really matter? More specifically do I need the lightest strings possible or will medium-lights do it?
>>
>be me
>be poorfag

>>
>>733476502
The madman! Haha cool jam.
>>
>>733476129
Dig the jams. Pretty creative.
>>
>>733476378
Jazz is friggin tough! I love teles, i think they are very versatile. But yeah, for all out metal stuff.. a humbucker on a ibby plus the thinner neck would do better. Although i've seen some jazz players who can blow any metal shredder out of the water on a fender.. but that's a different story. Divebombs are very much fun once you get the hang of them :D

String size depends on your comfort level. I usually use a heavy gauge (.012) because i tend to play with my tunings (esp lower) and because i dig the clarity of a heavy gauge. Although you need some serious strength in your fingers to do proper bends, but once you develop that, it sounds fantastic!
>>
>>733476639
Thanks!

>>733476832
Yeah. I pretty much spend all day thinking about chord inversions and phrasing. Metal is up there too I believe but in a mirrored sort of way. Like, jazz is mostly theoretical skill(chord theory, improvising, etc) with a lot of technical skill. Metal is mostly technical skill(picking, apeggio patterns, etc) with a lot of theoretical skill.

Teles. Are really the perfect guitar for me. They are incredibly versatile like you say, and can cut through anything and punch you in the gut. Here is my baby.

I should be fine with my strings then. I know what you mean with heavy strings and fuller tone. I like my medium lights because I try to emulate singers when I play like bill withers or a young micheal Jackson . The lighter strings let me get creative with my vibrato and how I approach notes.
>>
>>733477539
Dibs on guitar! Who's gonna sing?
>>
>>733478027
Everybody!
But for real, someone could start with a lick, and the other anons could build the rest on it. Use if metronome is mandatory. In the end we receive vocal lines and put them as we see fit.

We would need someone who knows how to mix dou.
>>
I don't really have any digital software for mixing so someone else would have to do it. What kind of song should we make? I've got to waste a LOT aid time today so I'm game.

I'm thinking something kinda simple like a jamming pop song.
>>
>>733477971
Wow. She looks beautiful!

And i agree with your string choice on this guitar. Although you can put a heavy gauge on this one but i don't think you'd be able to go down than drop c with this scale length so it's really not practical. Play on!

>>733478262

Yeah I've just been trying to work out what I'm doing with all these effects. I got really focused on buying gear for a while and I'm only just now getting things set up. I've gone from using about 4 pedals last year (delay, trem, overdrives) to 10+, half my rig in stereo with two amps, still about another 6 pedals to go, and some routing/switching/control systems I'll need to sort out.

I think I just need to practice with them enough that I have a good sense of taste in when and how to use them. At the moment I'm still getting lost exploring shit and sounding like a hack lol.

This is some cool stuff for a few hours just messing around on /b/. You never know, you could even be jamming with some famous musician and not even know it on here. Pretty cool shit, anons. I'm impressed.

bump. I like this thread

Thanks. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out too. If I was famous though I wouldn't be here for sure. I'd be snorting cocaine and screwing sloots.
>>
Hey Anons, what guitars do you recommend for beginners? I currently have a quite cheap fender sqier with 2 humbuckers and no single coil. Can I use that for playing metal? It sounds a bit shitty but that's probably just because I am playing. I don't have that much money, please help me out
>>
>>733500567
Use what you have. My first bass for 60 bucks is the funkiest thing I ever held in my hands. Don't worry on guitar, concentrate in pedals if you're into metal.
>>
Since this is mostly a guitar thread and i feel this is the best place to ask how do you guys suggest a somewhat beginner guitar player get into more complex songs like metallica etc.
>>
>>733500772
Thanks, I guess I'll just keep practicing until I can afford good pedals
>>
>>733500858
From my experience, YouTube and tabs if you're not into notes. Start slowly alone and then practice with the band themselves, try not to be too loud so you can hear them. When you know your shit, find some people to jam with.
>>
>>733500858
Well back when I was learning that stuff I just tried my best and sounded like shit for a while. There is a more boring quicker route to getting good if you can motivate yourself.

Learn basic barre chords(major and minor with the root note on e and a string)
learn the 12 bar blues.
Next learn pentatonic scale.
Learn to do the blues for a bit.
Learn major scale.
Learn about intervals
Learn modes
Learn chord theory
The whole time you should practicing alternate picking and using your pinky if you don't
Practice technical drills like chromatic scales and 3 note per string scale variations.
Build speed with a metronome
In 5 years you will be able to shred
>>
>>733500858
Metallica sucks. Start off by playing slayer of the show no mercy album. That shit introduce you into some technique and its not that hard to play
>>
>>733498468
That's the trick and part of the fun. Just play around and see what works and what doesn't.

Even if you play all 10 at once, if it's the sound you want then go for it.

I have 17 pedals at the moment, 9 fuzz (two of them are double pedals, so 11 fuzz) 3 overdrive, a distortion, and then octave generator, phaser, flanger, and reverb.
I probably don't need that many, but I enjoy mixing it up and stacking them in different ways to create lots of different sounds.
>>
>>733502221
While I have to agree with anon about technique, my gf only cares about Metallica and other non-metal babes probably don't care either. Choose your priorities.

best guitar, 9 years of practice, no one can surpass me

Electric guitar beginner reporting in (~2 months since I'd got this guitar). What do you recommend doing to improve my rhythm?

Nice.
>>733508364
Get a drummer. If you can't, then have a love-hate relationship with metronome.

Don't focus on making the lead sound super clean and smooth, just focus on the rhythm, and practice with a metronome. The precision can come later when you get the strumming patterns down.
A guitarist with the greatest fretting hand precision will always sound terrible if their strumming hand is complete shit at holding rhythm.

METRONOME METRONOME METRONOME METRONOME METRONOME METRONOME
>>
>>733508629
>>733508537
Yeah, thanks, but the problem with metronome I've had is that I sometimes don't even hear it when I focus on playing my part.
>>
>>733508728
Use the digital one (goes beep beep, not tic tac) and/or use headphones. And remember that you have to be loud in front of audience, not at home.
>>
>>733508881
Alright, thanks for advice. I'll just try making metronome louder than guitar sound.

Play without your amp and practice with the metronome loud enough to click with your guitar.
Or just fucking turn your amp down. Something you need to realize early is that the loudness of which you play does not make you any better or worse at playing. Practice without an amp and really focus on what you're playing.

I play through my PC (guitarix on linux) now. I don't really think PC is that bad for beginner player, but I sure plan on buying a real amp as I intend to learn guitar seriously.
