Guns are WAY too unregulated and WAY too over manufactured. I don't think guns should be outlawed, however, I do not think that you should be born with the right to bear arms. You must earn that right by serving your country in the military for a minimum amount of years or by working in law enforcement. People can't be trusted, and letting anyone get their hands on a machine designed to kill is just ludicrous and irresponsible.

We used to be allowed handguns in the UK. Till a massacre in Dunblane, Scotland in 1996, leading to the Firearms Amendment Act of 1997.

Murica shouldn't ban guns IMO. In case of getting your nation under attack, it's easy for you to mobilise more army quickly. Equipment wouldn't be a problem neither. Issue I see is not that you guys can have guns, but that's way too easy to get one.
I'd love to have courses for firearm permits similar to those for driver license in my country. Explaining legal situation, safety measures, how weapons work etc, as well as mandatory shooting range practice. People with criminal record would be prohibited too.

Have you ever tried to purchase a firearm from your LGS? You fill out a federal form that not only allows the ATF to run a background check on you, but also links the firearm to your identity.

That being said, while I am pro 2A, I think you should have to complete an exam and an operators course. Just like you need to operate a ham radio for some reason.

Operating a HAM radio takes more licensing and paperwork than owning a firearm does.
