But the vet said that if the amputation doesnt occur, there will always be a pointy piece of the bone and it could poke through the healed over part of its foot.

I have a three legged cat and she's a real trooper. She doesn't like being picked up though, she prefers to do everything herself. She jumps damn high and runs super fast when she hears the treats, she's as lovable and normal as any other cat. The only downside is she always has trouble with the litter box and constantly mis-aims, so I'm cleaning piss off the floor daily. Other than that she has no issues. You'd be doing a great thing and gaining a companion.

My cats have a lot of Kittens and recently one was born with its foot fused to its knee we had the same debate and decided to keep him you'd honestly be surprised how fast he moves around he's adapted quite well can jump up on things

My gf has a little cat that is missing one of her back feet. Nobody knows why it's gone. My gfs dad found her as a stray and took her in. The vets think she was born without a foot, but I dont think so. She still tries to walk on it as if she learned how to walk on all 4 feet at one point.
The issue is that since it didnt heal properly, its still painful for her to walk around on it. Other than that, she lives a completely normal life.
This cat doesnt need to die because its missing a foot. Get it healed and itll live a normal life, itll just be gimped.

I once had a kitten with the umbillical cord around one of its paws from birth. It got dark and later fell off.
It was a very loving cat and lived a happy life, unfortunately with only 3 paws.

If it needs to be put down, better sooner than later but there's not really a reason to do so.

yea,if she ate it's foot something was up with it. cats are usually pretty smart, they can sniff out a dud and will eat it or separate it from the rest. a necrotic foot wrapped in a cord will get chomped. i probably wouldn't put it to sleep unless it's really suffering. if it gets a massive infection from the wound it will just die anyway. i know i wouldn't be able to afford professional care but i could still slap a small amount of dollar tree neosporin on it's stump and hope it's young enough to recover and live a rather normal life. if that cat has a good mamma and didn't separate it from the litter it would probably still take care of it with the rest of it's kittens if you could get their smell on it
