hotel manager here

earn about 80k annual, for basically talking to people, and getting them into their rooms

its a very isolated and comfortable hotel in the canadian mountains, so the visitors we have are hikers, adventure sports guys or hippies who want to see nature
--no annoying kids, or obnoxius types//

generally, after 6, it gets slow, so we guys usually, go out, smoke up, enjoy the view'

all of us, have to stay in the hotel for 6 months--after which we can go home, and have the 6 months off

we have really bonded over the years, so really enjoy each others company

+ awesome high quality food for 6 months every year

how's life as a wagecuck, mate?

frying chicken at minimum wage surely must be mentally taxing
>>
>>732437347
that legit sounds awesome

i am stuck as a sound engineer--

if you think, being a sound engineer, is having fun with rockstars, all the while solving complex mathematical problems--think again

its shit!!

i have to work with pretentious obscure bands who think they are the shit--its not exactly solving mathematical problems, but more of listening to the lead guitarist swearing at you, because he thinks he doesn't sound "groovy"

worst part--the pay is shit, 50k annual
>>
>>732437546
there is no need to be an asshole, you over-pampered dirtbag

not everyone, has the same opportunities as you
>>
>>732437703
50k for a sound engineer is really good, you're either lying or secretly showing off
>>
Mechanical contracting
Been HVAC and plumbing and sheet metal work for 16 years.
Landed a job 2 years ago doing same work but much bigger scale. Commercial/industrial.
I'm making 110k a year with no overtime.
Plus I have small side company that brings in an extra 25k cash a year.
>>
>>732438389
So yeah .. I'm happy.
Mainly cause I love what I do too.
I'm really good at it

Shit can be tedious at times but i enjoy it
especially this stage of my life im in right now
>>
>>732437016
Double classed engineer/bureaucrat.
Happy because I can make a difference for the good of mankind.
On the other hand, half of my colleagues are assholes.
Tough call. Rather happy though I think.

50k barely pays the bills where i live

i saved a grand total of 300 dollars last year

i drive a second hand honda, and live in the shady part of town

thats not where you expect to end up, when you're studying physics and maths, day and night at the uni
best advice is to not be an engineer at all--its such an oversaturated career at this point, that
many of my classmates were unemployed 1-2 years after graduating--many of them, changed careers altogether, and ended up doing an MBA
>>
>>732437016

Delivery driver of advance autoparts.

it's a shitty job with even shittier management but I'm building towards something else.

Thank fuck it's only temporary
>>
>>732439101
stay strong mate!

i have been through a lot of shitty jobs, and the only way to make them worthwhile is making friends at the workplace

that way, you don't feel alone for being stuck in a shitty job
>>
>>732439243

atleast I get to keep my junk on the road on their dime. figuring out their inventory system was easy enough. haha
>>
I only make 35k a year where I am but cost of living is super low here despite it being a small city. I do IT for a university. Friend of over 10+ years got me in and it's cushy as fuck. Chill all day, some big jobs a couple of times a year.

We've also been hiring in other friends since we're a bunch of computer nerds and now our office is like 90% people who've all been buddies for 10+ years. Great working atmosphere. I actually prefer being at work to being at home. But that's just because I get bored af of my clingy girlfriend.

Train dispatcher.

"Happy" might be a bit strong, but it beats the shit out of the jobs I've had in the past. Generally you don't get paid to do the things you love.
>>
>>732437016
Systems admin for a mid-sized non-profit. All jobs have their good and bad parts, but for the most part very happy. Didn't finish college so I could be doing worse. I can support my self and if you don't have that as a guy, you can't fell like a man. At least that's how I feel.

Getting an MBA would kill what little soul I have left.
>>
roofeer, love my job i get to travel all around and see views most people dont get to see
also the odd naked women through a window and people banging
good times
>>
>>732439243
You know he's right.
>>
>>732439378
I find that when you are working a job you don't hate, but also don't love it's best to still do your best at it. At least taking pride in the quality of the job you do, gives you positive feeling. Better then simply feeling stuck all the time.

I'm not sure if I'm happy with my job or I've just develped a slight Stockholm Syndrome for it.

I'm tech support for a large international company. We focus specifically on web browser issues for developers (e.g. a company website for the client isn't loading correctly after a browser update).

At first, I hated working there. But I'm not sure if it was just a projection of my insecurity over my intelligence (or lack thereof). I didn't know barely anything about the job and it took a lot of work to get where I am now.

Now things are just "okay", I had issues with the way the company was treating us, but things have gotten better over the last couple months. I feel a lot more confident in what I'm doing, but yesterday reminded me that the company doesn't care about individuals as much as I'd like to think.

We had a team member fired yesterday that we'd known since training (the whole team pretty much trained together), and it was a shock to all of us. I mean, he deserved it, he was late all the goddamn time. I was informed through the grapevine that this is just the opening salvo to the new "results-based" regime that we were now under. Basically, if we can't perform to their standards, we're gone.

It's not like I blame them. Hell, we get paid handsomely ($32/hr) for not much work. We just have too many people and not enough work. I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet. I guess with all the disgruntled people leaving on other teams, it freed up some money for us, and since we're one of the best teams on the floor, they wanted to keep us.

But, it just makes me think of those dark days before everything got better. Makes me want to look for another job. Cause I might be on the chopping block.

The people I work with are awesome, though. Couldn't ask for a better team.

With one job I am. The other I hate. The one I like is selling pot. Decent money, make people happy and I'm my own boss. The other job is being a cashier, the exact opposite of my other job.
>>
Hate my job. Financial analyst, painfully repetitive. Lucky that it pays the bills but Im not happy doing it.
>>
>>732440256
That gave me the feels.

I'm a cleaner. TR best goddamn cleaner there ever was

PA, I'm a criminal by definition but I only sell to working old heads who work for a living. I make almost double selling drugs than my other job but I want to just have one well paying job someday. I'm half way through a engineering degree and want to work at an electric company or something
>>
>>732439958
exactly!

i'd rather be low paid than go through sheepification of my mind

MBA and overall working in the corporate sector basically drains whatever little creativity, or personal identity, you have

i worked at a fortune 500, suits and ties, shoes polished, you have to speak a certain way, dress a certain way, think a certain way, or you're out the door.

Bascially, you're turned into over-glorified factory robots, working together and thinking together in perfect harmony, to make the boss as much money as you can

It drains your happiness, and pride to lick a Chad Boss' feet so he gives you a raise, or atleast doesn't fire you

I remember a very intelligent co-worker who got fired, because he didn't treat the boss' wife like a queen

she asked him to bring her a coffee, while he was on with a client--he replied with, "i am very busy it will take me about 15 minutes"
and that was it for him

GUYS, please don't get an MBA, don't chase the finance careers, they're over-romanticized in movies--you dont snort coke, and fuck blonde whores

The boss gets to do that shit, while you work 12 hours a day and make that happen for him

what do you do now?

i started my own diamond wholesale business--
Moved to Antwerp, Belgium from US.

a really peaceful and unconventional place--you make friends with a lot of weird, and unconventional people--after all, it is a not so traditional career that attracts weird people--you get to see old jewish guys, young europeans, middle-aged indians, diamond obsessed women etc

all in all, its fun, not too stressful and i am happy

Am I happy not 100% but I'm content at my job 16.50 an hour with yearly- biyearly raises.
