So guys I've been thinking.
What happens when the outside lava on the sun solidifies like it has on earth?
Isn't it going to be dark all day and we will only have a bit of moonlight at night?
>>732179382
Can't happen it's too hot
>>732179382
sun is made of hydrogen, earth is made of silicon dioxide
>>732179382
It's not lava. It's burning helium.
It's not lava it's plasma you dumb fuck
>>732179382
No, after a long enough time a spark will randomly be created by friction on jupiter or saturn and they'll catch fire and burn for a long time. It'll be like a second sun.
>>732179610
i bet you think the world is round.
>>732179382
>>732179619
If it was plasma it would be green stupid. Is the sun green?
>>732179721
0/10 troll
>>732179382
Do you ever jackoff while taking a diarrhea shit? Like... Is doodoo massaging your prostate?
>>732179382
Faggot go back to school
>>732179382
We would just have to wait until the earths orbit moves out of the dark side of the sun. NASA never shows pictures of the other side
It's only one magma... don't worry about it.
>>732179382
The difference is one is Gas and one is rock.. the sun will likely explode rather than fade out.
Better get some googles with night vision and Tom Clancy that shit hombre.
>>732179721
Fallout level of knowledge
>>732179382
its nuclear fusion not fucking molten rock
>>732179617
So what happens when the helium solidifies?
>>732179721
Yes
>>732179382
>>732179382
>>>732179382
>
>its nuclear fusion not fucking molten rock
Butt sausage
Waffle cock
Hair pizza
Chicken Caesar salad.
>>732179910
We've hit absolute zero?
>>732179805
yfw, helium does not explode.
>>732179910
Better run to your hackers hideout.
>>732180052
Seems like it really wants to live~. Cool~!
>>732180025
You poor thing
>>732179918
Wow. Kryptonite sun.
>>732180025
Actually, he was right. The sun will literally explode once it reaches the critical mass for that. I don't know all the numbers, I've read this in a science magazine some time ago, but as soon as the sun burns some of it's mass, there will be not enough gravity to retain all the helium, and it will gradually scape the sun. At the end, it's like an explosion.
Some science anon please confirm this.
>>732179382
Great shit posting newfag.
>>732180052
I'd like to live there. Fuck the lava sun. I want that.
>>732180451
The sun won't explode. It is simply not massive enough. It will expand to perhaps the orbit of Mercury when it cools off and turns red.
>>732180025
but it will undergo fusion, igniting combustible gasses around it. Considering that it itself is formed from hydrogen fusion, and the end result of a triple alpha helium burn is oxygen and carbon... it can start one hell of a fire.
>>732180707
Yes, that's what I mean with "explode". Not like and actual bomb, but that it will become a Red Giant or something like that. From our perspective, that would look like an explosion, I guess.
>>732180707
No. No. It will turn into a white dwarf star with huge gravity swallowing the rest of the solar system.
>>732179382
OP IS THE SAME RETARD THAT STARTED THIS THREAD HERE >>732180317
ABANDON SHIP!! SAGE ALL POSTS!!
>>732181038
It won't become a red giant. It will be a red star of about average mass and slowly deplete its reserves.
>>732179382
the sun is burning hydrogen gas...not molten rock.
>>732181068
It will turn into a red giant and the will collapse under its own gravity and only the core wil remain
>>732181156
Ok, I believe you anon, as I said I read that somewhere years ago.
>>732179382
So in short, what happens when the sun goes dormant? Its been answered in thousands of papers, thesis, and articles. The answer is, Earth dies
>>732181068
Gravity is based on mass. The sun already has 99% of the mass in the solar system. Where do you propose this extra mass would come from?
You're welcome.
jewtube/watch?v=qsN1LglrX9s
No Moron. The fuel rods will be in full meltdown keeping the surface hot enough.
Thankfully there is no water supply to worry about and gravity will contain the harmful radiated material.
>>732181244
It will expand and swallow them
Hi there, I'm Billy Mayes just coming into here to congratulate op on making the most retarded thread on b toay.
>>732181244
Dark matter.
>>732181586
From where, dumbass?
>>732181237
Earth will be vaporized before the sun becomes a white dwarf. A white dwarf can technically support advanced life and will be around for trillions of years before the known universe goes completely "dormant".
>>732181656
And, before Earth is vaporized (much before, actually), human kind will disapear too.
>>732181648
Although dark matter has not been directly observed, its existence and properties are inferred from its gravitational effects such as the motions of visible matter, gravitational lensing, its influence on the universe'slarge-scale structure, on galaxies, and its effects in thecosmic microwave background.
>>732181798
And your point is?
>>732180197
It is not that hard if that is what you want. A friend of mine bought some cheap land in the middle of fucking nowhere when he got kicked out of his house for not making payments.
Bought a shitty trailer home, paid for a well and since he worked in construction basically built himself a house around the trailer home. Was pretty comfy and a fairly big house when I visited him.
>>732180025
Tell that to a supernova
>>732181873
Yeah and the closest dark matter we know of possibly being is nowhere near our solar system, how stupid are you?
>>732181875
Pics or it didnt happen you massive faggot
>>732181875
We need pictorial evidence!
>>732181874
Why I need to have a point? It's just something that will happen. And its awesome. We give our existence for granted.
>>732181875
Nice~<3
>>732180349
>>732180451
>>732180776
>>732181928
This is all bullshit because Helium is a noble gas. It doesn't react, so it can't explode.
it's science, niggas.
>>732182042
You know about the 13th planet theory right? What if that is dark matter?
>>732181798
That is a given due to time. Technically humankind is due for a mass extinction in another 800,000 years reguardless of anything else. That number can be larger or smaller, potentially significantly, due to intelligence
>>732182153
Not all of us. I'm 35, readily know I'll die, my grave will be lost, and the world will too, in time. I don't take my life for granted. Every second is a gift.
>>732182345
Listen dude the Aliens put us on this planet as a expiration and they will eventually Eradicate us.
>>732181656
Earth will be vaporized IF the helium star (aka RGB) swells to a radius closely approaching it. If the sun only expands to, say, Mercury's or Venus' orbit, things will get crispy (or lava. kek) but the Earth will still be around.
While the degenerate star (aka white dwarf) is still hot enough, it will radiate heat, but it will cool, and it's unlikely there will be any planets left in its habitable zone.
Sure, the radiation COULD support life for awhile, but there would be no planet close enough to take advantage of that.
>>732182331
So you're a conspiracy theorist...great...ty for making me not waste further time.
>>732182123
>>732182077
Sorry I hardly visit him since I moved out of the old shithole plus he lives in the fucking backwoods in the middle of nowhere so not worth a 4 hour drive and never bother to take pics because it never occurred to me to take pictures of houses.
You will just have to believe me, or not. It's /b/ it is fine with me either way.
>>732182277
Helium can explode under very high pressure.
>>732182277
You must be stupid, the sun isn't actually on fire so no helium doesn't chemically react, because it's a noble gas, thankfully enough NUCLEAR FUSION is not a chemical reaction and doesn't give a rat's ass about the outer electrons of a helium atom. So yes helium can be fused to form a heavier element, not it cannot however be fused chemically with other compounds to make a molecule.
>>732182655
Helium can IMPLODE under high temperature/pressure. It's called fusion. And He+He is generally endothermic.
>>732182599
I believe you mate. Would just have liked to see it. Sounds like some Mad Max thing.
>>732181873
> can't detect dark matter by any means, hence it's name
> "uh problem we havnt detected dark matter close to us"
How stupid can you be
How stupid can YOU be?
>>732183323
I could be pretty stupid, actually~.
>nod nod
>>732183246
Not really, plenty of cheap land in the USA and the guy built houses before he went into the truck business. Fuck, he help me built a patio on my fathers house way the fuck back. It just has a more rooms, bathrooms, guest rooms, etc. and gets all his materials for free since his old construction buddies "give" him the left overs from some projects they worked on so pretty good quality shit.
>>732183502
You're so white~.
>>732183607
Indeed, he is mexican though.
>>732183323
We can observe it interacting with other things so we know it's there.
>>732179382
it becomes too heavy and sinks into itself, then becoming liquid again, rises to the top, the sinks again.
>>732182766
YFW no oxygen, so no fire, so no heat
Your argument is invalid.
>>732183771
There is no lava on the sun! It doesn't solidifie and sink down again.
>>732184140
you must be thinking of jupiter.
as we all know is made of pure air
>>732184310
I prefer to think of it as God's fart.
>>732179382
I always liked to imagine that there are nice aliens inside the sun that sends us free energy.
