I thought I was bad with ~25GB.
The vast majority of that is made up of pictures, of which I have thousands. For the last two years or so (maybe less) I've saved every arousing photo I find on 4chan, and I've sorted them into sub folders as you'd expect.

But here's a question for you OP: How often do you go back and watch a movie from your collection? Have you "bookmarked" your favourites for easy access?

Since I started it in 2006, a solid 4 TB are on assorted DVD's with TONS of files on them. I had sorted all my files back in the day from like 2006-2010 by file type. If I were to insert an old DVD, it would have folders labeled MP4, AVI, JPG, etc

This changed when I acquired extra internal HDD's that I swap out from time to time.

around 2011 I got a new laptop, so the hard drives pretty much went unused until 2015, when I got a USB 3.0 HDD dock and consolidated everything on those drives onto an external HDD which have on a bookshelf now.

Now days with 4k video's it's normal to have ~6 GB scenes, whereas 10 years ago they would be ~300 MB

So I would say the last 4 TB are probably all within the last two-three years.

Look at RAID 0+3 NAS

I had a RAID 0+1 system going for a little while, but the drives were only 250 GB back in like 210, and it was sorta just an experiment. I gave up the mirroring and parity for extra storage.

buuuut that's not very cost effective, at the end of the day, it's mainly just pro and amateur porn, so if it goes down, the only thing lost is the time and the money you've invested, just things, not your own memories or family etc.

I have had a terrible loss where my first WD external drive fell off my desk and crapped out. All of my game saves and my absolute FAVORITES like good, extremely rare, and some would say valuable content was lost, and I was a fucking retard following some guide and I opened up the drive and I think I fucked it even further. This is actually a good question. There is a personality type where people are collectors/organizers. These types of people simply enjoy collecting and organizing things. Again, this should not be confused with an addiction.
