Was running a 2 million dollar Kay Jewelers unit until last month when I quit my job to move in with my new hooker girlfriend (yea, seriously!).

Was making 75k a year managing the store, looks like I'll be serving as financial advisor and online correspondence manager for my new escort girlfriend (she literally told me she doesn't want me to get a new job because she wants me home when she is and her schedule is already nuts).

She brings in about 260k a year (pre-tax) so I think I'm going to ride out on this train for a while and see where it leads. If all of the indications continue the way they are, I may be retiring early with her... but a relationship with a hooker can definitely have unexpected twists.

I won't hold my breath, but until this rocketship blows up, goddamn this is nice.

you're a pimp dawg. "financial advisor" (I.e. handle my accounting and taxes) and "online correspondence manager" (i.e. respond to my craigslist and backpage ads) is just you trying to make it fanciful

260k pre-tax isn't too great considering that's essentially business revenue. Let's say 150K post-tax minus expenses plus she has to get paid too means you're definitely gonna be making less than 75k. though i guess your income will be in cash so maybe that's an upside, but still... that seems like a shit deal

Assistant manager at a Casey's general store.
$12.50/hr
27

I got stuck there after moving out to rural Illinois at my father in law's suggestion and finding that the only jobs available were labor or retail. My body is fucked from the marine corps, so retail it was. The store manager starting salary is something like $50k, which is decent to me, and there's always room to move up, so I'm just sticking it out for a while. After I get my own store, I'm going to sign my GI bill over to my wife so that she can go to school full time for whatever it is she decides on. Used to be I wanted to be a medical pathologist, and was in school doing my biology intro courses, but shit happened and I've basically given up on that.

I met the Wendy's Chef once in Desert Breeze park in Vegas.

It was me, my wife, and my wife's son. We saw the Chef walking by a couple of trees toward a hotel. We thought it would be fun for my wife's son to meet him, so we rushed over and introduced ourselves. He was very polite at first even offering to take pictures with us.

Then out of blue he went off. Cussing and yelling about being harassed. He kicked me in the nuts and then just like calmed down and apologized.

He shook my hand and hugged my wife. While he hugging her he grabbed her ass. She must have liked it because she didn't resist. My wife's son was shocked and so was I. He led her behind a tree and started doggy styling her. I couldn't believe it. I didn't do anything, because I getting turned on. So was my wife's son.

It was an experience I'll never forget.

With this attitude and grammatical error, the only thing you are going to get is working out of a local computer shop selling CDROMS to 50 year old's and changing toner bottles. I work for a very very large corporation, I am telling you 100% we DO NOT HIRE GS.

Sounds more like you live in an area with shitty low-paying jobs/the good jobs are unrelated to your field, or you're trash at interviewing. You either need to relocate or try harder. You could easily break into software development with a math major and some programming experience. Hell, I've hired self-taught sociology majors for programming jobs because they have a thirst for knowledge combined with self-developed talent.

I got a CS degree and my first job after graduating was $7.25/hr tech support, despite the fact that I had a $26/hr internship 7 months prior. 2.5 years later I'm making $115k a year. I took online programming courses while working tech support to keep myself sharp and supplement my knowledge, but what interviewers found most impressive was that I was driving myself to learn on my own, even if the language wasn't relevant to the work I was applying for. Good engineers and interviewers recognize this and will at least hire you at a lower/associate level because they know you are willing to better yourself and have drive. To this day, I prefer and am more likely to hire people who are self taught VS mediocre CS grads.

I was in your shoes, but I pushed through it. You want motivation? Think about staying at your shitty, low paying job for another year, or two, or the rest of your life.

>advice for self-teaching
The best thing you can do is have a mentor, or someone you can bounce questions off when you run into problems. If you dont have anyone like this, maybe you can find someone or somewhere online. If you have jobs available near you, look at what technologies/languages are common among them, and start by trying to learn those. Right now I feel like Java and Javascript can land you a job in nearly any geographic region in the US.

The current trend for self-taught programmers seems to be in JavaScript (plus HTML and CSS, of course). You'll have to start with the basics, and then ideally gain experience in some framework that everyone uses. So learn some basic bitch javascript, then tackle something like Angular 1.x/2 or React. That'll get your feet wet and allow you to at least get a job somewhere. With Trump changing up the H1B program, its likely we'll have less Pajeets coming over from India for the near-term, so I feel like lower-tier code monkey jobs are going to become more available.

You should probably take an online course in web development (or whatever your local tech jobs target) on some website like codecademy. Watch the videos/read the crap/ write your own code. Do not copy paste. After you complete each step of a tutorial, ask yourself, "Is this the best way to implement this solution?" and do a google search AFTER YOU HAVE COMPLETED IT to see if there is an easier, quicker, or more optimized solution.

>books
I've never really used them when learning, only when honing already learned skills. Youtube and online tutorials are better for the initial build up of knowledge.

>classes
In-person classes are likely to be a waste of most of the time you spend there. If you are unable to learn the basics online, on your own, then in-person classes will probably be beneficial to you. Recently 'code bootcamps' have sprung up in a lot of locations. These places are typically good and throw condensed information down your throat so you get up to speed very quickly. I've heard that they cost around $10-$20k for a half year or whatever their cycle is, and some of them are pretty selective about their candidates.

>just figuring it out
Yeah, thats how you learn. Use whatever resources you have available, but like I said, dont just copy/paste. You actually need to learn and after you come up with a solution, find out if its actually the best way to solve a problem.

Hit me up on steam if you want a mentor, my name is Dr. Pizzaman and I've got a dick for a middlefinger and nose. I've got 2 accounts, just add them both.

After you've actually learned some shit, try to be up to date on best practices and use a version control system (create an acccount on github, do not use the gui, use command line interface). That'll be the icing on the cake that is your resume.

I just threw a lot of shit your way, but take it incrementally, a week at a time. You can land a new job as soon as 5-6 months.

Oh, also apply to a bunch of places and be ready to fail your first interview hard. Your first interview is probably going to be a throw-away, it will teach you what people are looking for and allow you to hone in on it for the next one.
