>>
>>731818021

I managed to quit smoking back in 2011. It was really hard at first, as I did it cold turkey, and most of my friends at the time were smokers.
But for every day that passed, I thought it would be even worse if I broke the streak, and went back to smoking.
The first week was worst. After about 2-3 weeks it actually started getting better, and I started noticing early on that I got my sense of smell back to the level it was supposed to be at.
I started feeling great about quitting!
Now smokers smells pretty bad again, and I start coughing in close proximity to cigarette smoke.

Try quitting cold turkey, and see if it works for you. If not, I'd suggest cutting down on the amount of cigarettes, ending with quitting completely.

Also, remember that for every day you manage to not smoke, the closer you are to getting past the cravings.

Hope this helps.
>>
>>731818021
where do you get them from?
>>
>>731818666
this. why do people say it's hard to quit? i've quit like a thousand times for weeks. but i just always go back because i love it.

Went from cigs, e-cig with 18mg nicotine.
From that lower nicotine levels till 0mg.
And 1 week without smoking anything at all and no cravings.

I love how I DON'T want to quit. I love smoking. To me there is nothing more satisfying than a smoke after a shower, or first thing in the morning, or after a meal, after a blunt, A good Marlboro Black compliments anything. Been smoking for 6 or 7 years and have no plans on stopping. No cough, no shortness of breath, I see no reason to quit.
>>
>>731818021

I quit Friday after smoking a pack of Red 100s a day for about a year straight. Cold turkey is the only way to go in my opinion, you suffer through the first few days, but even now I can already feel less desire to smoke at all even though I love it to death.

i was very addicted to cigs, used to feel the need for smoking about 15 times a day
just stopped one day and haven't smoked for 4 months now

it gets easier, you just have to endure the beggining
>>
>>731819689
That's nothing to really be proud of, but holy shit smoking after a shower is so fucking good.

Quit cold turkey a couple of times and managed to make it work for 2-3 months before my stressful schedule throws me right back into it. I now vape to not have to deal with nicotine withdrawal and still maintain a sense of taste/smell without smelling like a smoker.

If you've never quit before, it'll be hard. I think it's worst on the 3rd day, but after that the physical symptoms disappear rather quickly, and what remains is the cravings. And those are the actual hard part to beat. It depends on your inner strength - and right now, I don't have it in me.

how do you smoke 75 a day? do you even breathe oxygen?

>>731818666
quitting nicotine has been one of the hardest things to accept that im addicted to. I never thought id be one of those people. but between smoking, dippin, and chewing, its all been fun, but it took me seeing a cavity start to form on my tooth to quit chew and dip, and after taking a 4 day break from smoking i was right back in it again.

im not actively trying to quit, and i have cut back, but i feel that even after taking a few days break, i can see it being a challenge to go more than 2 weeks without a smoke. Alcohol is much easier to quit than tobacco.
also

defeats the purpose of the shower, you're just stinky and gross again right after the cig

Vaping . People talk shit about it but it helped me quit. Used to smoke a pack a day.
2 months of vaping did the trick.
Now i dont smoke or vape, maybe smoke one occasionally once in a few months if im with friends. Hit the gym regularly. Life is better.
Also if you want to quit, quit cold turkey.
>>
>>731818021
yes
>>
>>731820205
Exactly. But you don't even notice it with how clean you feel. You're all warm, you smell like soap, and your skin is super soft, you hardly notice you're dying.
>>
>>731818021
I'm down from 2.5 packs to 1 single cig every other day and maybe 2 if it's an exceptionally shit day.
>>
>>731821010
I think the warmth makes it better. Like sitting at a park bench or something with the sun on your back on a spring day.

The real trouble with going cold turkey is that the cravings seem to come in threes.

>Three seconds after you quit, you want a cigarette
>If you make it past that, three minutes later, you want a cigarette
>If you make it past that, three hours later, you want a cigarette
>If you make it past that, three days later, you want a cigarette
>If you make it past that, three weeks later, you want a cigarette
>etc

And every time you hit the new milestone, you go backwards through the list. Three minutes after the three-hour mark, it hits again. And three seconds after that, it hits again.

It was fucking nervewracking for me. I ended up vomiting at one point, but I've been nicotine free for almost three years now. Which means I'm about to have a really bad time, soon.

Fuck me.

>>
>>731822188
Most people who smoke do have one every 20 minutes unless they're at work or somewhere they can't smoke freely
>>
I quit using the patch after smoking for 12 years around a pack and a half a day. It sucks, but stick to it and the cravings will soon go away... for the most part.
>>
>>731822286
Not quite, the average smoker smokes about a pack a day.
>>

this video helped me stop smoking
>>
>>731821820
It's been hell since I quit trust me, the first day I couldn't even leave the house and I felt lightheaded the entire day. Now it's more of a crushing low once a day that I just take 5 minutes to get through. But damn man, good job on 3 years.
>>
>>731818021
I quit cold turkey but had a couple of failed attempts before. I believe my third or fourth attempt was the last one. Smoked for about seven years, from 16 till 23 and those last years around half a pack or more a day. I've been a non smoker since mid 2013 now, with some occasional weed smoking, and a very occasional cigar or puff from a vaper or a cig when I'm drunk.

I think what eventually did it was that I got fed up with the smell when even my fresh drying towel started to smell like smoke. I also wanted to save some more financially since I was still in university back then and I had to start paying for it myself.
>>
>>731818021
>bought a pack once
>finish in a few days
>want more
>bought another pack
>decide that I dont want to smoke cigarettes anymore
>quit

They were American Spirits though, might be missing some of the addiction enhancing chemicals

I think it's more difficult for anxious and emotional people to get through the "physical addiction"
>>
>tfw you smoked a fuckton of cigarettes but don't have the addiction and don't want to smoke right now or any other moment. (unless a drink night)

It's just that simple.
>>
>>731824884
If you're still getting nicotine in your system you didn't quit
>>
>>731825057
You quit smoking but started vaping. One is much more dangerous then the other.

>Muh popcorn lungs
Untrue. The same thing that supposedly causes popcorn lungs from vaping is in cigarettes at a much higher concentration
>But nicotine is bad for you!
Yeah it's about as bad for you as caffeine. It's just much more addictive.

>>731818716

How much do you pay for cigarettes a day?

36 dollars for 3 packs a day

Jeez man. I'm happy I'm not a smoker lol.

You could be spending less than 1/20 of that amount if you switched to an e-cig, and it'd be much, much healthier.

I'm about 4-5 months in to quitting from 1.5-2 packs a day, and it is tough in waves. most days, I don't have an urge for smoking, and smelling smoke makes my throat hurt and my stomach churn, but some days, like today especially, I really want a menthol, and I'm incredibly tempted to go out and buy a pack, but I don't think I will. I vape when I'm at home, because bringing it outside is autistic. I am still nicotine dependent, but I'm getting through it
>>
>>731826081
This
>>
>>731826081
How's that even possible? Rents like 900 or more and groceries are 80-100 a week
>>
>>731826045
shit, here in southeast asia, a pack of smokes runs you between 75 cents and 2 bucks. Loosies can be bought on most street corners for about 10 cents. At one point, I was too poor for a single smoke. I was drinking tap water (which gives you massive shits and possibly other shit) and eating rice for about a month straight.
>>
>>731826656
Depends on where you live fam. My one bedroom apartment is about 450 a month.
>>
>>731821486

but i only smoke when i drink and never buy them, just bum from friends
