My cat died 2-3 years back when I was 16, pretty sure she had a tumor in her mouth and she was about 17 years old :/ I had desperately tried to feed her but she wouldn't eat. every day I checked on her her little meows got weaker and weaker, she had more trouble lifting her head and couldn't stand, this went on for 5 days until she finally died in front of me. I tried so hard to keep her alive but she was too far gone. Please get your cat euthanized if you can, nothing hurts me more than knowing how long she suffered.

I lost my cat Lucy just a few months after my mom died. She came into my life just as the dog I'd had since I was 6 was in his last days. I didn't immediately get another pet after Lucy though.

Then my friend dumped a mean-ass, half ferral kitten off on me. Ashes is the name his step-daughter gave her. She was not Lucy at all, but over time she's gotten sweeter, and turned out to be a really great pet too. My grandma lived with me, and was dying of cancer last Summer. Ashes stayed by her side almost constantly until the very end.

On behalf of OP thank you for your stories.

I lost my girlfriend of 6 years this year on March 16th. A week before she passed we got a baby persian kitten, she named her Jolie. And everyday when I'm away from her at work I think about her and how I made my promise to my gf before she passed that I would never sell this cat. Dude I know it's strange but when my girlfriend passed I felt she was okay, I just knew it. Death is a part of life, and cats have souls just like us, I don't know what happens after we move on but I do know that matter can not be destroyed it can only be transformed. One of my cats died this weekend. She was very young, and was ran over by some speeding asshole. Somehow she had the strength to crawl her way back home. Cats know death better than we do and are not afraid of it like most of us are. They seem to have re-incarnated souls, otherwise how could they know so much in such a short time. Also there is a little bit of us in every one of them and that is how they understand us as they do.
Cubby was sad to leave but not afraid to move on. Soon her soul will be reborn in another place and will have some memory of living with you all those years. An old cat makes a decision to stay when she is around 7 years old and cubby decided to stay with your family for her life. Old cats are wonderful beings, you were blessed to have known a 17 year old cat that you had all your life.
Find another kitty soon, choose one that might otherwise be taken to the shelter or otherwise have her life thrown away, take care of her the best you can and never feel bad about keeping a good kitty into her senior old age, is a good thing. Just feel good about Cubby's life with you and never forget, maybe even write down some of the more memorable times. Over time in your life you will forget, so best to keep those memories in a durable form.
I still say goodbye to kitties long gone in my life as I travel near where they are buried, some from over 30 years ago .. just .. never .. forget, and they will live in a small way for many years into the future. I saved your pix, I will remember, Cubby will live on in our memories.

My cat seems to eat less. I'm apparently becoming the crazy car person in my neighborhood, because people keep dumping out strays that I don't have the heart to let starve. Right now I have an additional female cat and her four kittens living in here with me and my cat. The two males who've been staying in all winter have decided that they want to stay outside now that it's warm, and I'm grateful for that.

My original cat is a little nuts though, and really picky about her food. She won't touch anything most of the other cats have been near, nor use the same liter box. Pic related is the exception. She seems to get along with him wonderfully, but he's a very easy going cat. I'm pretty sure he's been fixed too, because he doesn't act like a typical tom cat at all.

My cat is outside right now because he loves being out at night. Just going to turn 1 year old this month. Even though we haven't had him long, I still dread the day something will go wrong with him.

I would much rather he stay inside and be safe, but I couldn't force him to stay, I'd rather see him happy outside and sleep during the morning inside. He's helped me be happier, and I hope your cat was able to make your life a little better.
