What cooling does /b use? these are my temps on my 3770k @4.6Ghz at full load with a corsair H60, will it get better if get an H80? H100 is not an option due to limited space on my case.
bump with titties
>>731047000
Damn I'm jelly. I have a 212 evo and can't oc for shit. I have the same CPU as you. I'd say don't bother buying a new cooler, temps up to 80C are fine on full load.
Also, what voltage do you run it at?
Ps4 ftw
>>731047802
stock voltage, no turbo all cores @ 45 multiplier with 102.3Mhz bus speed, why jelly? you have the same cpu, what mobo do you have and cant oc?
>>731047802
there are cheap water coolers btw, even a used one can do the trick
>>731048055
I have an asus mobo. I oced 100 mhz bus speed 45 multiplier turbo by all cores but my voltage jumps to 1.3v and it just overheats on full load.
Also what do you mean by "no turbo"?
>>731047000
Nice trips. I normally use NZXT's Cam to monitor temperatures. CPU runs at 4.0 GHz.
>>731048785
>it's not much but it's mine
just fuck off back to plebbit please
your kind is not welcome here
>>731048720
use intel extreme tuning utility and you will understand, shouldn't overheat at these settings even on air, maybe you need to replace your thermal paste
>>731048785
nice beefy rig you have there
>>731049010
What's your problem? I didn't say it wasn't much. It's a hell of a PC and I'm proud of it, but I wasn't going to needlessly brag. Fuck off back to your Pentium running machine that's scrap from a McDonald's store somewhere.
>>731049046
Thanks man.
>>731049161
>reply consists in defending himself followed by calling me a poorfag
It's a pattern, always the same
>>731049161
dude don't reply to him, if he just spends his money on hookers and can't buy a decent pc is his prob not yours
>>731049250
>Got butthurt over someone else's computer on the internet, implying it's due to price of the components.
Why else would anyone reply with something other wise? I use it for video and photo work, as well as a lot of 3D rendering and projects, and gaming. It's not like I use it only to jack off to 3D-loli like half of /b/.
>>731048785
what cooler do you have? a friend of mine just bought a Kraken X62 for his i5 6600k and this thing is like an airconditioner
>>731049647
I use a custom liquid cooling loop. The temperatures are a bit high as I have it sitting upstairs right now, was doing some maintenance on it. Normally, the room it sits in is between 65-70F, and the CPU doesn't usually exceed 70C on full load. With the GPU's remaining under 50C as well.
>>731049996
custom cooling is not an option for me due to lack of space and changing a case is also not an option for the same reason, i do have a dual radiator sitting on my desk and i was considering modding my H60 (external mounting of the radiator of course), don't know if it is wise of course and that is why i'm thinking of getting an H80i
>>731050274
What case are you using? With some proper planning, you can make a custom loop even in some of the smallest of cases. This is an old build I did, in an NCase M1.
I don't. You don't need more then 3 fans.
>>731047000
I'm using a Corsair H100i GTX right now. Currently playing Ghost Recon Wildlands since I just got it for free. For whatever reason, my CPU won't show on the summary tab, but its an i7 7700K @4.5 GHz at about 45 degrees Celsius.
>>731050634
If he got a H100 it would benefit him. But something like an H80 won't do much better.
>>731047000
High 50's is a very safe range at those clock speeds under load.
I'd stick with what you have, and just clean the dust out of your case/radiator.
You CAN shave a few degrees off by upgrading to a H80. Its thicker radiator and push-pull fan config will dissipate more heat.
With that, you should expect a 3-5 degree improvement. Decide for yourself whether that's worth $80. I say no.
>>731050406
that is a superb case for its size, i have a CM690 II but the thing is that i have cramped a total of 13 HDD's in there (all of them 2.5"), and before you ask they are 4 x 320gb in raid 0, 4 x 250gb in raid 0, 2 x 500gb in raid 0 ,1 ssd for the os + 1 3.5" 4tb for backup and 1 optical drive
>>731050891
i already have my h60 configured as a push pull with noiseblocker fans, putting it like that (the 80 bucks i mean) you have a point, i'd rather change my keyboard
>>731050406
if you want i can only take a photo of the back side of the case with all the cables to understand better what i am saying here >>731051028
>plebs
>>731047000
CM Hyper 212+ with two 120mm fans attached.
>>731051955
what cpu / frequency and what about yout temps?
>>731051955
>>731052114
think the peak i've seen it go was 75 C under heavy load, but still ran with ease.
>>731053097
i would not feel comfortable at these kind of temps for a long period of time, my opinion is you shoulkd get a cheap water cooler, it most certainly will be better than most air coolers
>>731053342
Wasn't constantly running at that temp anyway, still using the same configuration from 4 years ago without any major issue, today.
You don't need a good processor if you have linux
>>731047000
Dude
My i7 6700k @ 4,5GHz is on aircooling and I got better temps than you on water
>>731053635
But, what can you do exactly in linux, other than shitpost on /b/
>>731053555
i also have my rig for just over 4 years and never had any issues with it (i clean it quite often) and really can't find a reason to upgrade it (maybe i'll add a couple of sticks of ram at some point), even my gpu's still serve me properly (2 x gigabyte 7870)
>>731053819
is this on full load?, my temps are at this level @ full load
>>731053998
nothing
Linux is basically the same as macOS.
You can't do shit with it.
It's a Facebook and shitpost OS
>>731054067
You know you have a good rig if it lasts more than 4 years without major hardware problems.
Only upgrade I applied on mine was the graphics card. Had to retire my MSi GTX 670 PE, grabbed a 1070. Good for another few good years.
>>731054067
No that was idle
pic related is full load
>>731054096 >>731053998
It's for programmers with a single fucking braincell
>>731054412
No it's for freecucks who programm shitty open source software
Windows is for real programmers.
Especially with Visual Sutdio
>>731054376
keep it running for about 15 minutes and take another screenshot, looks good btw
>>731054354
1070 will last at least 3 years, i think the only downside is that is doesn't support sli (i might be mistaken here)
>>731054506
You don't fucking get it, do you?
>>731054566
1070 has 2-way SLI HB support. 1060 doesn't
>>731054376
also, sandybridge/ivybridge cpus are hotter than newer generations so the difference is actually understandable
This is my usual temperature when web browsing, watching YouTube etc...
4790k
Noctua NH-D15S, not even audible.
>>731054618
you'd take any bait
furthermore linux isn't just for programmers. It's for everyone. You can do almost anything with linux.
>>731054566
ok I'm starting stresstest right now
>>731054566
>support sli
not sure if that matters, don't have much memory of games being able to properly support sli
>>731054823
Oh thank god, I'm still a bit of a newfag so I get baited pretty easily.
>>731054745
thanks for clearing this up, this means that it will actually last longer you just have to one more when prices drop or get one more used from ebay and it will kick ass
>>731054787
full load temps?
>>731054823
don't stress test it, i prefer real world applications, stress tests are not realistic imo
>>731054881
good point, had some issues with dual setup from time to time depending on the title
>>731055013
Alright.
Now I'm running GTA V and Resident Evil on 2 different screens
Let's see how that affects the temperature
lets post our b/stations everyone, this is mine, rig behind the desk so my gf wont nag about it
>>731055013
This is rendering a video, at full CPU usage.
I can't say I've ever seen it above 60c, even when overclocked to 4.8GHz.
>>731055377
dude you must live in alaska or somewhere simiral, where i live this kind of temps are only fisible during winter or when the room is air conditioned
>>731055539
I'm in the UK, the room is currently about 20c
>>731055571
Athens Greece, the time is now 22.30 and the temp is 25 degrees celcius
>>731055669
Whenever I've been to Greece on holiday I love the warm weather, being able to walk around at night without a jacket is wonderful
>>731055756
best place in the world to spend your money, worst to earn them, i also love the uk, best thing the brits did is to leave the EU, i just hope that at some point we will do the same
>>731055013
>>731055304
Looks like it stabalized around 65°C
Will update in 10 min if anything changes
>>731055930
pretty good for air cooling
I'm a noob and don't want to fuck up my rig with water cooling in case something goes wrong...
These are my specs basically at idle (just torrents/plex)
Should I do anything to improve? Is it bad?
>>731055924
Mythos is far too nice... Only time will tell about brexit, it wouldn't surprise me if the country bails from the plans
>>731056047
>don't want to fuck up my rig with water cooling in case something goes wrong
what can go wrong with an out of the box kit?
>>731056165
I guess I've read too many horror stories on chinese made shit getting leaks and shorting the mobo, etc
>>731056163
either way we like brits, what i love the most about your people is the elegant sense of humor you have
>>731056255
buy a branded one and not a chinese knock off
>>731056421
Well I shall take that as a compliment, thank you sir!
>>731056491
it is one and no gratitude is required i just speak the truth, i haven't been to the uk for quite some time (10 years or more), i might visit london this winter
i'm not seeing any battlestations, have some tits while you take some photos of your setups
>>731056421
any suggestions on a brand/model?
>>731056165
>>731056255
Just use deionized water with a copper or silver pellet of some kind to prevent bacterial growth. Don't add dye coloring to the water as it clogs up over time.
>>731056942
corsair/nzxt/coolermaster/asetek are the ones that come in mind, i would avoid raijintek they look nice but 2 of my friends had problems with them
>>731056699
not much changes here in my opinion, but saying that I'm not exactly that old. I've only recently turned 18, so I can't really make a massive judgement on the changes in the UK
>>731057323
you are indeed young my friend, i am now 36 (in a couple of months to be precise), i will only say one thing to you , please be a gentleman when you visit lagkadas or faliraki and stay away from the booze they serve, it is what we call a μπομπα (bomb) for obvious reasons
Currently under moderade load, oc'd to 4.5 ghz.
Cooling is NH D15
Push/pull with H105
Keep the 2500k cool even @ 4.8ghz
>>731057826
fuck the temps , 64 gigs of ram!!!, i believe you can listen to the sound of me fapping right now
>>731057930
nice and clean build, what gpu is that?
