28 here - i felt like i was in a rut around 23 as well. Basically same situation as you, boring job, boring friends - really vanilla standard life.

I dumped all my boring friends, and really got into my main hobby (music) and found and made new friends who all followed the same passion for music.

Changed my life entirely - still work shitty job, but my social life is entirely different, being able to hang out and share a passion with likeminded people is priceless. Never a dull weekend

wether its recording random whack shit with other muso's or playing gigs, going to festivals or concerts with people who genuinely enjoy it as much as you.

Not saying it has to be music, but find a hobby you like, and make friends who have the same interests

Yeah a recent discovery!

Always been a city dweller, went through a rough patch but I had enough two years ago when I was standing on the side of a bridge ready to jump, but I didn't so I pursuit things that interested me.
Yes, after that I bought with the little money I had, a DSLR and learnt photography on youtube, scrapped about 250 bucks and went a whole week backpacking to Baja by my own, met a beautiful canadian and saw DCfC live as they were playing for a festival at the Hotel California. Best week of my life. Changed the way I see things, back to my city I still struggle with debt, current unemployment and all that daily life stress. I'm no one, but like I said, sometimes there are moments.

Or just upskill yourself into something that pays well. Unless you are aiming for management you really don't get a lot more attention or responsibility. People will pay you because there's no one else available to do a job they need done. They will also give a shit about your conditions so you stay.

To do this you can go back to school with a greater appreciation of why you are there which I've found to be much more enjoyable than the first run through.
