Redbacks are really easy to catch, look for any rusty old garden shed and there will be a shit ton of them. Best way is with stick, clear plastic cup and paper sheet, poke the spider out of the web by pissing it off, cover with plastic cup and slide paper under.

As for fighting, they're pretty shit if you dont rile them up (by shaking the shit out of their jar and blowing smoke from a gumleaf into the jar). They tend to run straight to the other animal, bite it once and then bug the fuck out of there until the poison kills them, in which they'd then eat whatever the fuck it was it was fighting, probably lost 60% of the time as most people didn't know how to piss them off properly.

I loved fightclub with spiders. but I didnt have the "luxury" of living in australia. I had a reigning champ who was a beautiful turquoise female jumping spider who faught with brains like a big cat. But in earlier years I discovered that woodspiders would kick almost anythings ass because they had fangs that worked like mandibles horizontally instead of normal vertical fanged spiders. Love it, My favorites were bullants, they'd have a mean jump (up to a foot) and were fearless. They hit with their tail sting then would lock on with their mandibles and keep jabbing with the sting. They were the shit. However they hurt like fuck if you let them sting you, which they'd do if you weren't careful. Heres a pic

When I was in middle school, I was suspended almost every day for cutting classes, and the time-out room had a window that opened up to a courtyard with a bunch of dandelions. I would jump out of this window every day while the teachers flipped a shit and get a pile of them, pull out the yellow parts until I had a big ass pile and eat the whole thing. I also ate their coffee beans.
Then I did the same thing in high school, and got a weird qt girlfriend because of it. Then she left me because I cheated on her with some guy I met via Diablo II and for some reason told her.
