There's a sliding dustcover on the hole, which also functions as a kind of safety mechanism.

Performs really well for a beginner's box. I actually used this box in a tournament last month, and beat a couple of guys using redwood legacy cubes worth ten times the cost of this one.

Just spin it. There are a few youtubers doing "tricks" but they are generally pretty unimpressive - basically throwing it in the air and trying to catch it without stopping it spinning.
