Personally I like rap because it's unrelatable to me. I'm a suburban white kid who's lived a relatively okay life. It's something outside of what I know and that's what makes it interesting. Listening to a bunch of whiny white kids sing about how hard their life is like Green Day is just boring as shit. Also rap, IMO, has a better sound to it. The beats are just better sounding to me. I think the beats are more interesting than mostly any sound a band has produced. I have gone through my rock phases and listened to literally everything from 1970 to 2000s and rock music just doesn't give the same feeling. It all starts to sound similar after a while. Drums, guitar, bass, raspy vocals. There's only so many combinations of sounds you can make with the same handful of instruments before it starts to wear out. One of the only bands I actually like nowadays is Dropkick Murphys because they use bagpipes and banjos and shit and have built a completely independent sound from other punk or rock bands. But with rap, you can literally make a beat out of the sound of a mayonnaise bottle. Some might call that stupid as fuck, but I think it gives a much wider range of sounds in rap as opposed to rock. Aside from some of the garbage ass popular rap songs, most rap artists will have completely separate sounds to their music.

Sure I'll give you the fact that rapping is way easier than singing. Takes literally no skill to rap. But I think that's also the appeal to a lot of people because a lot of people like to sing along. It's fun to know the words. I've tried to sing AC/DC I can't reach whatever the fuck Brian Johnson's voice is. I've tried to sing Frank Ocean songs and his voice is just way too good for me to even resemble the sounds he can make. Rapping is easy and comfortable for a lot of people. On top of that, it's also faster and at least for me I kinda like the faster pace of rap music in comparison to rock.

60s rock:
1. all the top artists played their own music and wrote their own lyrics
2. Utterly mind blowing soundscapes crafted with real in studio instruments (which makes for entirely unique and inimitable sound with every song), whether it's the humming "wall of sound" of The Beach Boys, the crashing, archaic avalanche sound of Bob Dylan's electric albums, or the insanely varied and intricate melodies of The Beatles.
3. The lyrics here are the greatest of all time. Again using those three artists: the content of their work is completely different, but all poetry of subjective experiences. They are artists. Brian Wilson sings how "if you should ever leave me, well life would still go on believe me", while John Lennon sings "and though the news was rather sad, I just had to laugh, I saw the photograph", while Bob Dylan sings "between the windows of the sea where lovely mermaids flow and nobody has to think too much about desolation row"
4. I mentioned how great the sound was but I'd also like to point out how varied it was too. Again that A Day In The Life and Like A Rolling Stone are in the same genre is incredible.
5. It's fucking better

1. It all sounds the same because nobody is making the music in studio any more. Some nerd on a computer designs a beat and some random black dude (literally. Fucking anyone can be a rapper in the world of modern hip hop) "flows" over it.
2. It's grimy and loud as fuck in order to pander to the white people that want to be black people and the perpetually drugged out club/concert goers who can't listen to anything unless it's a "banger" aka it explodes their brain and makes them feel numb.
3. The "meaningful" rappers sing the most pandering, simple, repetitive headlines of the day as some sort of social or political statement, which, by the way, is anti-art. VERY few rappers are writing actual lyrics to songs, creating actual art, they are just nigger reporters. As bob Dylan once said right after he stopped singing protest songs: "there's so much more in Blue Suede shoes than there is in Eve of Destruction." Politics is anti-art.
5. Did I mention it's repetitive, badly produced and the lyrics are shit?
