I'm gonna be posting the progress photos I took to bump the thread. Here's the very first stage. Found some wood and drew a shape

Cut out the shape with the jigsaw and got to carving. The first bit was probably the hardest with so much material to work with. These files went SLOW, almost as slow as the hand saw I was also using

I'd mostly shaped the head by now. This was about 2 hours of work from the previous picture

About an hour of shaving later I'd pretty much finished the head

The next day, that small red vice which I found in a pile in the basement and probably 5 hours of shaving the later, sides had been grinded to a fair level

It's safe as long as I smooth it out enough. Low chance of it breaking or getting stuck and most sealants (at least the ones I'd be using) are safe for humans

1 day later, a bit of sawing and the front side of the base was done. There's no pic after this because I did the rest of it tonight and only took a photo of it finished. I ended up having to cut off the long stick on the end cause there was a small crack developing right at the base of it which I thought would totally split (and in the wrong direction) if I tried shaving down the whole thing

I've been wailing on this shit for 4 days in a vice with sharp files and have tried moderately hard to snap it at the base more than once. If anything breaks it will be the little stick coming off the bottom which doesn't matter as much as it seems because I've still got the rest of the base. Not gonna be wearing it longtime so it's most likely not gonna break. I had that thought in the beginning too but by the time I actually started working with the material all my concerns were gone because god fucking damn wood is a bitch to carve like that

You'll want to be sure to hand sand it down to at least 2000 w/d sand paper and slightly wet it with a slightly damp paper towel. It'll reduce swelling of the wood later when you apply your clear coatings. I would apply the final coats and sand them down with 4k grit or higher. And do that a few times till you get an even coat. It'll work fine. You just need to take extra precautions now rather than learn the hard way.

I always wear headphones so music through speakers would make them suspicious. This shit vibrated through the floors too so that might not even block it out. It's not necessarily loud but it is persistent. I could do it outside but if I'm being honest here anon I'm not found outside very often. Could always wait until everybody's gone to do my carving but that'll be some slow ass work. Most likely I'll just wait until we get a lathe and then I can just turn some dildos on it in no time.

This is probably the most work I've put into getting something in my ass honestly. The shape is fine but the thin area near the base could be wider if you want to increase comfort. In general it looks like a fairly standard design with a flare at the base to prevent it from getting lost inside. The real problem is material safety. Wood can splinter and wood is very water absorbant - meaning unless you find something body safe to seal it with, this thing will be permanently butt-scented after first use. I have heard of wooden toys before but wood is generally not considered a good material for toys. You can get a silicone plug in this size for about $25 if you look around (i mean real silicone, not chinese 'silicone'). The question is if it will be cheaper for you to just buy a toy?

Yeaa it is a fun line of work and sometimes I just go for other ways to describe it on my resume. Materials and 3D sculpting engineer. General product design... stuff like that.

I do not have an engineering degree, no. It was mostly a matter of discovering that I could use my design and art skills for this, sending in some sketches go a company (bad dragon), have my design produced, and then eventually move on to starting my own company (twin tail creations). In the meantime I have learned relevant engineering, material science. My actual trade was process oriented product and interface design, so it is not that far off. After 2 years of training, tons of skills learned, and 8 product releases, I feel confident to call myself professional.

Surely qualified to sculpt, but you also need product design skills, moldmaking and material engineering, and a good amount of equipment. Silicone can be a bith to work with - you need to de-gas it in a vacuum chamber to get air bubbles out for instance, you need to use he right type and amount of release agent to free kt from your mold, certain compounds will mess up the catalyst xor the curing process and make it fail to cure entirely while other materials will just cure to it, and make the pieces inseperable.
There are lots of resources available and making atoy is easy - making a good toy takes experience though.
